Default Battery question

Just a quickie , my battery had about 5.9 volts on it when trying to turn engine over , the batterys about 3 months old , but basically i thought i had an alternator problem and maybe still do getting 14.2 volts direct from alternator ? cleaned all terminals etc , everything looks great ,

Now took my battery out and was charging for about 18 hours or so and now its back in car , but could there be a chance it is now weak ? my fans are trying to come on but cant ? as soon as i put jump leads on to my batt the fans fire up as per normal with the tempreature etc ?

Could my battery be knackered even though its just been charged ? answers on a postcard please ? this is doing my nut man

Help appreciated by one pi$$ed of cosworth owner

My hearts telling me change the battery and my heads telling me to change the car lol

No mate , just when my cars getting up to fan coming on time lol

I realise there not gonna come on , and the batterys the problem , reason i know it was in for a mot last week and my temp guage was right up and had to shut it down because no fans , then it would nt start , so as soon as we put the jump leads on it the fans fired up to cool it down , now ater that this is when i charged battery nad tonight the same thing happened? for a while there it would nt start with out a jump , so took me on the alternaor and battery roundabout

Id rather do a build than have these fuck about all night problems
Just having one of those days mate

When the car was running in the mot centre for some reson was getting 11.87v or there abouts

But the other day after i charged it , running i was getting 13.86 or something and when turned off it was 12.75 volts , when start the car the battery lights always on , give it a rev and it goes out and you see my batt voltage guage shhot up to around 13ish ? always done this tbh

But checked direct from alternator and was getting 14.2 from the positive on it to the negative of the battery

Little blue wire on the alternator and connecton on everythigs all been re-done and cleaned gotta be one or the other im thinking , no good with this sort of thing

hi, elimination! ---------try another battery first beg/steal or borrow, could could be charging forever (of the car) you only need one knackerd cell, id been driving my escort cossie for weeks awhile ago then pulled in for some petrol and!!yes it woudnt start!! dead cell-just like that!!!!!! put my spare battery on (got a spare i use cos ive got a few cars-wifes etc) and never had a problem since had to pick up a spare one again thought-big amp from podders in notts£10- i keep a spare for jumping etc ,as the weathers getting bad its a good idea-ive also got on the cosssie one of those low trickle chargers for over winter hibernation---------- brilliant!!!!!!!!-good luck,
