on a escos,(or any 200 block for that matter) where exactly is the engine number stamped that should correspond to the last 5 numbers on the VIN(issued by cosworth)?

there is a set of numbers stamped into the block just above the waterpump in that small space just below were the head meets the block.not sure about then vin stuff

 

i think those numbers or the ford part number though.....

on ALL FACTORY cossies, the last 5 number of the VIN are the engine number from cosworth, so for example, my vin plate is WFOBXX.........NL95154.

the NL denoted the car build year and month and the numbers are the engine number from cosworth.

just dont know where its stamped o nthe bactual block though?

go to the above link and look at the bottom left hand pic and click on it. there is a set of numbers just above the block drain plug on the turbo side of the block.it my own block and car half way through restore there is other numbers on that side of the block aswell

 

so then.....

does the numner that has been polished up on that pic (top left corner of the pic) match the last 5 digits of your VIN....?

 

just checked and yes it matches and it has the preceding two letters aswell, mine reads ng31528
