Default Escort zetec, mk6. 16v (p) clutch help

Hiya all, im new to the forum. and in need of some help. My mk-6 escort 16v 1.6 zetec engine. I need to change the clutch i am ok with doing the work myself just need some advice.

My mate dave said that if i jack the car up on axle stands at the front at both sides, then remove the starter motor and both driveshafts, and then the gear link where it goes into the gear the box or back of clutch!

He says that you not need to remove the transmition that you can undo the 6 bolts and lower the gears and transmition together with useing a trolly jack to support both the engine and the gear box?

Any of this ok? any help and pics would be a grate help cheers chazz
