Default xr4x4

just bought a xr4x4 for a very good price.
but while driving it,it seems like the rev counter is reading half slow, say i was going 3thousand revs it shows 1500 revs.
any body had this before or know wherte i might start looking?
is it possible a 4 cylinder dash was fitted (are they different?)
cheers
dave

If it was a 4 pot clock then it would read 2 thirds and not half.

It's probably just a duff rev counter.

I agree with that. I bought a Capri 2.8 with 4 cylinder clocks and the rpms were all over the place like that.
