Default Help !!

hi
i was drving around the other day, everything seemd to be workin fine but when i came to set off from a set of traffic lights
the car seem'd to have no power. its been the same since it struggles in every gear. does anyone have a clue what it could be??
its been sujested to me that it could be my cat, but if that broke wouldnt it free up power rather than restrict it.

Is it your XR2i?

Usually when a cat goes you can hear it rattling first, which is the noise of it falling apart! When it finally fails, it will block the exhaust gasses from escaping fast enough, therefore reducing the efficiency of your engine, causing loss in power.

How did the person who suggested the cat come to that conclusion?

hi MR COSSIE 4X4
yes its me 2i
it probly is the cat then from what u said just that i didnt hear the cat rattling probly due to me exhaust bein a noise bitch.
the person who sujested it works for ford as soon as i mentiond loss of power he just said probly ur cat apparently quite common on these or somthin he said.
think il get it up on a ramp un hav some 1 look at it, if it is the cat gona hav to cough up some Ł's un get a new one. heard they aint cheap

No mate they arn't! but then thats probably the original one you have got on there, and considering the expected life span of the early cats is only 10 years yours hasn't done bad.

Instead of getting a new one you could take it out and get a cat replacement pipe, although you will need to put one back in for your MOT's

Just take it off and knock all the honey comb out of the center of it. It'll still look just like a cat just not as restrictive. If it passes MOT your good to go if not you had to buy or borrow one anyway so your not out anything.
