What gearbox can i use for my Escort mk5b its a 2litre, been told its eating diffs and to get a S2 box but dont know if it will work help please.

 

I have a mk5b with a 2litre zetec, its gets used as a track car and I am still using the original 1.6 zetec box its called an iB5 gearbox and supposed to be good for about 200bhp, never had any problems with the gearbox or diff! But if you want to upgrade you can fit an MTX75 box from a mondeo or RS2000/130bhp 1.8 escort or a B5 gearbox from a S2.

 

I'd stay away from the S2 'box, the casting is missing a piece needed to fit to the mk5 front gearbox mount so it doesn't just bolt in, I had to adapt the mount using bits from an S2 cradle to get it in my mk5.
Why don't you just get a quaife lsd if it's only the diff causing the problems?

I wish i could mate but the box is now humped will probs go with the RS2000 box cheers for the help but if you's have any more ideas would love to hear them

 

You need the RS2K linkage and the RS2K mounts and you'll need to use the flywheel and clutch on the car now, drive shafts and speedo cable are the same.

As a short term solution just fit another iB5 box from any zetec escort can be had for next to nothing.
