Default Hand Brake Probs

Had my car on axle stands for the last months and now back on the floor and the handbrake seems to be locked on.

The hand brake moves up and down with no effect to the brakes and has no resistance - this sometimes happens in the very very col - ie lots of snow

I this a common problem??

and how is it resolves

Cheers Guys i do appreciate any help i can get

Shoes will just be stuck to the drums with rust.

Either take the wheel off and hit the drum round with a copper or other soft hammer, or gently drive forwards and backwards to free them off.

If it does it regularly it may be that the linkages inside the drums are partially siezed.

A very very small amount of copper grease on the joints should help prevent it.
