Default PLEASE HELP. COSSIE 2WD

hi folks, my problem is my 2wd saph it drives ok most of the time then the odd its cuts out dead all of a sudden, then when i try to start it it just turns over. If i leave it for a minute or two then it will start as usual and drive the best until its next cutting out episode. It makes no difference whether the engine is warm or cold. I just dont know where to start, anyone ever come across this or have any ideas???

I have the same problem on my 3 door, stopped twice this year, leave it about 10 minutes works fine, I have just started checking all sensor plugs and wiring but until it goes again have no way of finding it, I am carrying a few screwdrivers, multimeter and wiring diagram with me as I can only find it when its broke, but fuel relay or connections sounds feasible will attack that with the meter if it happens again. Unless there is any way to check it, I was also thinking of cleaning the terminals on the fuel pump just in case. So I am interested in any comments on this as unreliabilty is a pain.

Default cutting out

inspect the wiring from the crank sensor it has a tendancy to go brittle and the insulation breaks down. that is what happened to mine

Hi,

On next engine stop, look on your RPM counter, if needle fall down immediatly on 0, or if needle decrease with the speed.
If immediatly on 0, it is firing problem from ECU, if needle decrease, it is fuel problem.

Another test to do : autodiag.

Regards.

Claude

I had this prob and it turned out to be the FUEL FILTER ........

It would run for a bit then just cut out but would not start back up but if you left it 5 it would fire up no probs

Remember a lot of these have never been changed......and they are like 17year old now
