Some people run without fitting the caps - I suppose in the belief that they will give a better spray pattern and the fuel will atomize better. If this is the case, then the larger the hole in the end of the cap, the better. Don't know if there is anything in this though - you'd be better off talking to a tuner you trust and following his/her advice.

Even though I've seen it done many times I've always been dubious about it, why would an injector manufacturer slap a cap on the end of an injector that would affect the spray pattern, it doesn't make sense. I'd like to see side by side comparisons on an ANSU cleaner to find out for sure but don't fancy butchering a cap needlessly.

run mine WITHOUT the caps and have no problems at all!

thought the cap was only there for protection of the needle jet incase it was dropped

regarding why you'd change what manufactors designed the 403's spray pattern with the cap on doesn't suit the Cossie engine was what I was told!

greys are fitted to jags as standard i think and do not run caps. this is why you need a fitting kit. so your changing the design of the spray pattern of injector by fitting a cap surely

any more ideas?

I thought the fitting kit for the greys was an adapter for the inlet manifold or fuel rail It gets more confusing!

you've got the wrong end of the info m8 as stated above the fitting kit is so it WILL fit onto the Cossie manifold, the caps I'm talking about are at the bottom of the injector!

What Alvyn said - the 403 injector wasn't OEM for a Cossie (US Ford V8 amongst others) hence the cap can cause problems on a YB engine. Best advice is speak to your preferred tuner.

That will be fine.
The ONLY reason to use a cap is to stop the O ring falling off the bottom. LOL

This type of injector runs best with no cap at all. Leaving the cap on CAN and WILL cause an engine meltdown unless it is modified suitably. I personally chop the entire end of it with a stanley knife, far easier than pissing about trying to drill holes in the tricky little buggers. lol

I drilled mine using a large washer over top of pintel cap so i could hold in position.

using a stepped drill 4 to 22 mm drilled caps out to approx 5.5 mm could go more up to 7mm

by using a step drill it dosent catch like a normal drill

if u need a pic i can post some up tomorrow

Did not fancy the thought of only havin three fingers

I have just fitted my greys and followed stu's advice...put cap on workbench and cut 2mm off the top with a stanley knife.when the cap was on,i then trimmed it down neatly.
