Default ECU

if you disconnect this fron the engine will it still start no problem

a freind said that if you disconnect the ECU the car will be alot faster

But will it also be easy to steal

Help please

its a 1998 mk6 escort 1.6 zetec

i think you have had your leg pulled by your mate

it wont start without ecu, the ecu controls almost everything on zetecs. from fuel pump, to starter, injectors, idle, etc

thus the easy to steal bit would be incorrect coz u would have to tow it but yes, the Passive Anti Theft system is integrated into the ECU so, in theory - if the car could actually start without ECU (which it wouldn't) it would be easier to steal.

as as far as making it faster, was he doing this... the drop in weight may help, but it definately wont run at all without the ecu
