Default TIMING

Can the timing on a cos b changed or is it written on chip?

On efi pintos the loom had a connector which by earthing wires retarded ignition 4,6,8, degrees

Any ideas

yes there is a similar retard function on cossies, the connector(s) is near the main ECU connector, hanging out of the ECU loom, one pin will be earth, the other two you link to earth singly or both together to provide the varying degrees of retard.

pins 13 and 14 on the ECU

check that it works with a timing light though, as this is not enabled in all aftermarket chips.

Nope, just making contact between pins will advance/retard, well, that's what Mark @ MAD had me do while his head was in the engine bay checking timing

I mean, you don't earth them permanently, just temporarily to make the adjustment.
