Default semi to full synthetic

Currently in my fiesta si 95 model I have a semi synthetic engine oil,its a 10w40 and I want to use a 5w30 as recommended.
Can I switch to a synthetic oil without problems,I have read that switching to synthetics can cause ' stuck ' engine deposits to break free and circulate throughout the engine and also gaskets to leak due to the new oil soaking in.
I was thinking of a 8100 Eco-Energy 5w-30 from Motul whitch is an A5/B5 or the Motul FORD Specific 5w-30 which is an A5/A1 spec.
