Morning everyone, i need your technical help ona problem thats been happening on and off in the past week.

Problem 1

It sounds like a tapping noise but i dont think its the tappets as its a slightly differnt noise.

It occurs when i approach junctions and when i put the clutch down to stop, when the revs are winding down thats when this noise occurs, it sounds like a toy being wound up! its hard to describe but doesnt always happen, perhaps its the early stages of my tappets going??


Problem 2
Maybee i have low oil pressure as she makes noises when starting up from cold, ive been told its the pistons but when its warm it runs fine



Are these two problem linked at all!i Know one of you coossie experts will let me know!Cheers for your time everyone

PROBLEM 1
Seems a hard one unless its heard personally.could it be the big ends?
PROBLEM 2
is piston slap.nigh on all 2wd saff's have this,it is because of the position of the gudgeon pin,i wouldnt worry too much about it...
But i would try and speak to someone who knows a bit about cossies or engines for your first problem,as it could be either something or nothing Good luck bud

 

hi mate, it sounds like a really really fast tapping when i de-accelerate, just sounds like theres not enough engine oil in there, but there is,

I heard abouit the psiton thing being common but i just thought they might be linked!

 

does the noise happen when u put ur foot on the cluch??? or just when the engine is running!

i know this might sound stupid but is it coming from the engine it might be something loose in the engine bay.
it could be the thrust bearing have you got oil in your gearbox?
