Hi all, i've just bought myself a W plate Escort Td for my daily runner and I think there's a problem with the heater/ac, it was cold all day yesterday and I put the heater on high and the thing would only blow luke warm, I thought maybe it would take a while to warm up with it been diesel but after an hour it was still blowing the same luke warm air and not really warming inside the car up, any ideas?

Also on the hot few days we've had i've put the air con on and that doesn't seem to blow as cold as I imagined but I just thought maybe it wasn't as good as the air con in my old car? Maybe the two are linked?

Oh yeah one last thing, has anyone owned one of these before and what sort of milege did you get from a full tank of fuel?

 

IIRC the air con system is a bit of a night mare on these cars with regards to wiring.

First off, get the air con system serviced. It'll cost you in the region of Ł80 and it should be carried out annually.

With the heater, it could be possible that the thermostat is stuck open. It should be closed when cold so check that it is.

Also check that the heater matrix hasn't been bypassed as sometimes when they start to leak, people can't be arsed to repair it (then sell the car in summer)!!

 

Air con could just need re gassing mate. Also sorry if it sounds stupid but have you checked your coolant levels if that is low heater wont blow hot. good luck
