Hi there ive got a 1988 escort rs turbo in mercury grey. It has had a respray about 3-4 years ago but I need some touch up for it. Under the bonnet on the plate it says BK2076C . I went to Halfords for them to mix me some and all Mercury grey codes start with XSC, then 2076 and some had fours in them!!!! How do I know which one is mine? Or should I just try any because its been resprayed and blend it in? I only want to touch up tiny chips off the back arch bodykit .. Any info is really appreciated. Many thanks

when you look at the vin plate on the slam panel, there is a column of letters and numbers on the left side, the colour code is second up from the bottom, my 89 s2 is mercury grey and the code is Q. i think most touch up paints are the standard shade so if your just doing the stone chips it shouldnt really differ.

Unfortunatley ther are 5 diferent variants of mercury grey on ESCORT RS TURBO.That is ,there are 5 different shades.You need to find out which shade was used in the respray.How ever touched up areas will all ways show up even with the correct variant.If it,s just stone chips there are companys out there(CHIPS AWAY) that wll come to your house and blend paint into the stone chips making them invisible.About £30 i think
