Default what engine into mk3 mondy

hey just got myself a tidy mk3 1.8 duratec mondeo. i was planning on keeping it standard but you all know the story.

anyhow what im wondering, and hoping is will a focus rs engine pysically fit in the bay and how would i go about all extra ancillaries etc? i know its not a straightforward conversion but i want something that hasnt been done before.any help, advise whatsoever would be great

i´ve got a 2 litre mondeo mk III myself and quite happy with it!
The Duratec HE is really a Mazda engine and even the engine mounts are quite different. I would suggest a st220 engine for more power but that means more front end weight. There´s some tuning companies in UK that deliver Duratec 20 HE engines up to 250 BHP. I´ve heard that up to 230 bhp is safe with the 2.0 and easily tunable up to around 200bhp with just othe types of induction systems. Very fun car though! But then again, nothing´s impossible, but is it feasible?!

if you want more power then get a 2.3 duratech from a U.S. focus. Very torquey and can be tuned as high as 300bhp NA. Or if you want a turbo motor then it may actually be easier and cheaper to turbo your current engine

the focus RS lump isnt a duratec... its a phase 3 blacktop zetec

mounts are quite close but not identical, tbh, you'd be better off buying a silvertop zetec 2.0 lump, rebuilding it with low-comp pistons, and turbo'ing that

there will be kits already available to do so...
