Default Pro Alloy intercooler and EEC IV

Hi

Has anyone fitted the Pro Alloy intercooler with the EEC IV management and small turbo.

Where did you fit your air temp sensor?

I was going to buy a T-Peice Samco hose and fix the sensor with a jubilee clip.

anyone know or can suggest a better way? (drilling and tapping the plenum would be possible but the sensor could be influenced by heat from the engine).

cheers.

The back of the plenum (ie farthest away fom the head) would be fine, don't worry about the heat affecting the sensor as the air would be heated too.

Why don't you leave the IAT in its standard place just out of interest?

It can't go into its standard place due to the standard intercooler is not there. I need to find a location at the output side of the Pro Alloy cooler.

what happens if I just let the sensor read normal air temp? What are the normal?? temps seen at the output side of the small cooler on a small turbo escort?

Somehow I just don't see the outside air temp as a realistic option. I need to know more about the way the EEC IV is mapped to make a decision.

Put it where it would be on standard IC.

Azrael
This would be the better solution.

Safechav
No need to apologise, I didn't say Escos in the first post.

The IAT (or ACT if you prefer) has to go after the intercooler. The COSY eec-iv uses the sensor for corrections/control for spark timing, fueling, volumetric efficiency correction, boost control, adaptive learning control, cranking fueling and some other stuff I don't know about (but not the idle for some strange reason on the COSY ecu). For the eec-iv to make the correct decisions the input has to be the temperature of the air entering the cylinders, anything that raises (ie turbo) or lowers (ie intercooler) the temperature of the air has to 'sit' before the sensor in the induction route.
