My mums Escort 1.6si (zetec) is whining, it doesnt change when you dip the clutch and is quite loud from inside and outside the car, it changes with revs so could this be the box? its done 80k, it also makes like a chirping/grinding noise when changing down the box, is this related to the other problem, it had a clutch not to long ago (10k at a guess)

Any help would be good, as she wants to sell this but wants to sell it with a clear concience, so it must be right before it goes up for sale.
