Default window washer on a s2

i cant get them to work, i thought it was a loose terminal on the earth so i made a new connection but they worker itermittently for a while and then stopped. when i put a meter on the terminals of the multiplug near the washer bottle i get 12v on either side on the pins, i thought one should be 0v. there are 2 outlets on the pump to feed the water, one for the front one for the rear, are they marked which is for each one ???, this is beginning to p**s me off as i want to take it for its mot as i have been restoring it for 2.5 years and want to get it back on the road

That sounds about right, although a S2 has switched 12v to the pump, S1's are permenantly live and it switches the earth, enabling you to pump screen wash all over the window with no keys in but no wipe WHY?????

The fuel pumps can usually be heard buzzing at idle, if its only doing it sometimes you will probably find it stops when you start turning lights and blowers etc on, i wouldn't worry about it, just loading up the alternator, like when you turn the blowers or heated rear window on its common for the lights to dim slightly.

As for your ABS ive never had a car with it on and in the event i did it would be the first thing to come off. The buzzing will be the relay controlling the bulb IIRC, check the belt break switches are secure on the modulators.
