piston rings
hi people i need to change my piston rings and was wondering do i need to have a rebore or can i just stick new piston rings in.if the block was worn could i stick over sized rings in or what
and whilst we are on the subject, Measuring the bores, No lip at the top or bottom but there could be in the middle, Thats where there is most thrust due to conrod being at an angle at that point, It may look ok at the top and bottom but the middle of the bore could still be worn. I forgot what you use to measure the bore, Internal calipers??
you should have your piston to bore clearances checked, and then see if a re-bore is needed, if so then you'll need new pistons and rings.
you may get away with a hone, but you can't fit oversized rings to std sized pistons.
