ecu reset ??

Default ecu reset ??

hi i have a mk 6 escort 1800 si it had some problems starting recently so i had it checked by my machanic he plugged it in to the computer and it came up with 2 fault codes for the mass air flow sensor and nothing else. so i brought a new unit fitted it and same problem ! do i need to plug it in again to reset the ecu to reconise the new sensor ? any help will be great cheers guys

no the ecu's are self testing. just try and disconect the battery for about 5 minute then run the car up for about 30 minutes then see if this sorts the problem if not it cld be a short on the air flow meter wireing had this pronlem quite a bit on the mk6 escort

disconnect battery for a couple of hours then start the car, let it warm up and then take it for a drive, cruise at half throttle, nasil it once or twice and let it tickover for a bit too. should re-learn all it's values and if there is anything wrong/stopping it doing so it will pop up on fault reader.

tried that same problem how do i check for a short in the wiring and how do i fix it

i take it the mechanic didnt check the wiring to make sure it was deff the air flow meter then

no didnt check the wiring just told me to get a new mass air flow sensor which i brought and hasnt mad any difference
