compression
with the technology and progression tuners are applying to the YB engine the cylinder comperssions are varying vastly, i am asking for a vote, on a turbo YB what is better higher than standard (8.0:1) or lower than standard compression ?
I'm currently looking into running higher than standard compression for my new YB engine build so at the moment higher gets my vote. I recently rebuilt a RB25DET (skyline engine) to run big boost and low compression - low compression on one of these engines is 8.0:1
I say 8-1 is no problems up to 600hp and maybe above it, The next 700hp engine I will be biulding will be around 7.9-1,
But the question will not have the same answer between other tuners as it wont be as clear cut as it appears,
There are many other things you need to look at also, It is not as easy as a car turning up at 8-1 and saying give this engine 600hp as you realy need to biuld from a known spec to make the higher comp engines work and be reliable.
