Default Rear shelf speakers/tweeters

Well after along search and frankly I'd given up I got hold of these rear sapphire speaker covers with built in tweeters.

Now I'm not looking for original speakers as I dout there's any about but what's available in the aftermarket that will fill the holes.(tweeters also)

Has anybody refurbed there's, a few light marks here and there was thinking a light waft over with the spray gun.

Give them a degrease and satin black them.

Anything 130mm will be fine. Don't go for mega power ones as they will need to be powered by a aftermarket amp.

Std speakers are only around 15-20 watts.

You will need to make up or purchase some mdf speaker rings for the speakers to mount to.

Look to be abit over 5".

If popped the covers off and there's a few extra screw holes, looks like a lip has been removed....would this allow the speaker to sit on the cover as opposed to under it??

in my 2wd covers I have upgraded the rear speakers and they look factory.

I have a set of these 4x4 covers as pictured and will be doing something similar when time allows

Just to add to this, what is the proper colour of the rear shelf??

Both mine are a dark blue and faded but I'm sure I've seen some black??

looking at getting it flocked back to original colour.....black or blue that is the question??

I'll be honest I'm not a fan, mine currently has 6x9's in so the original look is my aim.

do you have larger speakers in there then.....like a stealth shelf??

I replaced the ones in mine with 13cm jvc speakers, all I had to do on the speaker was to nip the mounting tangs a little so they fitted in plastic surround and drill some small holes to mount them to the surround, the bonus I did find was the jvc had a thread going though the middle of the magnet under the label so I could bolt it to the car the same was that the original was, looks nice and factory

Do you have any idea which were the speakers with the thread through the middle of the magnet? I also want to replace the original ones, but want to fit them in the original way.
