Default Mk2 focus rs a future classic?

Do you think the latest RS Focus will ever become a future classic,or do you think 10 years from now it will be a £1500 car that nobody really wants......

You can buy it in 3 colours? Never did the 3 door any harm...

The Mk 1 will definitely, one colour, limited numbers.

Yes definately, lets all buy one and claim it's an investment, 20 years of insurance, servicing, Mot's, storage and associated running costs and claim we've made a mint....
On a serious note I'd say it's probably escos value ish in a few years and will hang around there for a long time, what other options are there on the RS marque?

I don't think they will be as valuable in the future due to the amount they've built. The RS500 will hold their value better of course. Also, I think the Ultimate Green ones will be the least valuable due to the fact that the colour will probably go well out of fashion!

Just my theory anyways. Who really knows?

Don't know... And does it really matter anyway?
It's the best RS we've had and that's what matters to me

i think the normal MK2 FRS will drop to around 9-10k within a few years and then stay around there...... but, i think the FRS500 will hold it much better and stay around 15-20k.......

yes it will be a classic, nobody ever thought that a mk2 escort 2 door would be worth £4k just for a solid shell, so god knows what could happen.

Resurrecting an old thread - so how are the 2011 predictions going now it’s mid 2018 ...

RS500 are £50k plus for a good’un
and the standard cars are anywhere from £14k for a high mileage/CAT registered through to ones in the low to mid £20k’s for good examples.
Thoughts now ?

Read through that and had to laugh. No great surprise that values are strong, as classic/collectible car values are very high at the moment. Their could well be a crash in the future, but I think RS products will always be in demand as Ford still has a big following.

They will hold there money due to two factors
1. It will be the last 3 door focus shell
2. To bare the rs badge
Thats why they are holding there price simple . A genuine future classic

Cheers paul

The truth is - I could have kept half my old fords and most of them would be worth more now than I’d paid for them back in the day: XR3, XR3i, 2 x s2 RS Turbos, Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth. I wish I had a time machine ! One thing’s for certain, I’m hanging on to my mk2 focus RS now - let’s see what the next 5 years bring

Fuck me, what did I know 7 years ago?

None of us could guess how many would end up in the scrappers. Shocked as fuck that the Ultimate Green is now a "normal" looking colour on the roads.

They've grown on me a lot!

MK2 Focus rs is a great car, bought mine 4 years ago in August and still smitten with it, sound great, go well and not mass produced, with low mileage cars still fetching what they were new and a bit more, rs500 focuses fetching huge figures although I think they are calming down a bit now, I wish I had got my name down and tried to bag a 500 new from Ford back in 2010 instead of pumping my hard earned money into a 20 year old ford Sierra rattle box

Mk3 I’m not overly keen on as to me it’s just not aggressive enough, however what I will say about them is fuck me they handle well, a very capable car, I went in a mates 67 plate one over on the Isle of Wight when we attended the Ford take over event back in May, his has a Mountune 400 map on it and the twisty bits it ate up like a lion does with an antelope, fucking phenomenal, the launch mode is pretty impressive too, I was almost going to sell my MK2 and go and buy myself a red edition from my local dealer but decided against in the end, I love my MK2 and would be gutted to see it go, as said above any RS car is special and will make good/hold their money if looked after and kept well

The focus looks nowt like it.

People say the mk3 focus doesn't look aggressive. It does compared to the boring looking Golf R.

The mk2 is a great car and one ford got right and it appears to be the last of the hard core ones aimed at uk petrol heads in focus form, the mk3 has some great running gear and gizmos, but with its looks now aimed at the US buying market has hurt it for many devotees but ford are still selling them well and wont care about what we think even with its engine issues, the roush version does look a vast improvement in mk3 form, the mk2 looks strong and sounds very good and well specced models that once dipped are on the rise again so given the choice the mk2 all day long

Biggest problem is all manufacturers have to stick to so many guidelines regarding impact protection, pedestrian safety, wind resistance etc etc the cars come out looking mostly the same. All cars these days have a sloping down bonnet (mk4 focus) to keep the nose low for scooping up cyclists etc.

With a lot of new cars take the front and rear badges off, put a load of them together and they all look nearly the same!!
