inlet for hight
Hallo i have a escort cosworth with new bulid engine.
s&j aloy true studd blokk.
148mm aroow roods.
92mm omega flatop with a bit valve cut out and coated.
the cylinder head have 36mm inlet and 33mm inconel valves and seat and wil hopefuly give me some good numbers.
and yes the car running 9:1 in compresjon and is only rwd !
the intake i have used earlier is a hart plenum with match portet runers/intake.
the enigine is bulid for high rpm and will be running a efr9180 so maximimum tork on low rpm is not my goal, i read alot about barel intakes and Mis but they are not that willing inn high power but beter to have for a longer rpm ranges?
sooo what alternstive is there? only use the hart plenum but maybe with spacer and ofcours 70mm trootle ?
hope someone having somerhing good advice to with becouse always good to heare other idees and experineces.
i like a good finish on thing to so good if its looks okei too! and a bit of engine just puttet togheter abit to see coolars and have ever bolt sent away 🙈
regards

Very impressed with your new engine, love the alloy block. Super clean as well. Sorry cant offer you much help as to how you want the engine to perform as I only have an "old School " low comp YB in my 2wd Saff. I also have a Hart style A&S plenum with matching inlet ports. Mine is only 450 bhp but I guess you will be going for a lot more?
I went for the polished finish on my plenum.
I like my engine bay clean and shiny!!

thanks . okei, planing tl emty that efr9180, but i qil stlp where it feels best and dont over stress it.
my old engine with the same sylinderhead only then it was 31mm exhoust valve. 8:0 kompresion and hart inlett, it made 484hp on the back wheel with only 1.45 boost and ita stoppet there becouse the turbo was a gtx3076r with ar63, so it was having to mutch back presure stock 2wd manifold to .
but when i se what other use on high hp cars i cant se why it could give alot hp if ported up and 70mm trootle. so curious about what people think

I posted this MK motorsport one a while back, I was going to go down this route or maybe his billet individual throttle bodies.
Your engine looks fantastic

I think MK also does the billet alternator brackets? But there are some on ebay and others on google if you look for "cosworth billet alternator bracket)
Here is a link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BILLET-ALL...-/121767548010
Anembo have them too: http://anembo-engineering.mybigcommerce.com/
I think you will get over 680 to 700 bhp plus on that setup with the right mapping.
I think Mark Shead visited Norway recently to map a big power car, I have seen him map a cossie to over 700bhp on the same turbo as yours (MA Developments)

What an engine haven't seen one where the main caps bolts are the headstuds.
Those alternator brackets only work on 2wd cossies or early 4x4 that has the pas pump on the opposite side. I'm assuming you wouldn't want to move it over due to space for a dry sump pump.

That's the new casting (MK2 if you like), the earlier alloy blocks did not have them, Mark Shead said that these were a great improvement.
They can go right up to 2.7l and 14mm higher block height if needed too.

what are people meamings here about a simple manifold like this?
foe me i se noe wrong i am not aimimg att a car buring tire att 2500rpm, i am builing a car with hopdfully a long register and a curve that claims up to 8500, thats have the cylinderhaed its set up.
so why some fancy thimg with 100bends and no room for everything els. my teori is with a engine on 9:1 comp, build for reving high and that big tuebo this wil kick as anyway. the other design i havw looked att have some crazy piping and all the place on exhost side is gone, i want it clean simple and a bit fancy but not that fancy i will have 2km with exhast pipes on it. but again it nees to work to, thats pre one!

I emailed oppliger and they says it was a direct fit to a rhd car, I knew that was too good to be true with the size of the thing lol.

I'd love to know the power potential of one of these if 1000bhp was possible on the old design. Good to see there's still delopment happening on these old donkeys.

I know, 1000 bhp,is just huge on 2000cc original motor, even if massaged a bit. Thing is these old cars we have them in are light too. My car with 600 bhp would be higher power to weight than most hyper cars.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
are many people using the alloy block?
im sure there's someone who knows there cosworth engines and builds them but backed the block, something wasnt right with it.
seems a strange set up to me alloy expands with heat.

its is more about tecnoligi ? si have far vi can push things, make it later and STRONGEr there are many types aloy and wotg good alloy , billet beams and good steeliner so on so so on why not. i whould never buy a steel blok and press it that far with samw expensive parts. and doupt somwone whould buy a +14mm 205 block :P but kiding to side we cant stayvin 95 if we want more out of everything, and the aloy and heat no problem, if it get that hot you have other serious problems i think
in my eyes its looks like a very good block that someone have used alot of brain behind making .

That is a lovely Cossie build!
Yes, there are quite a few of these blocks around now. The head has always been alloy and there are quite a few OE alloy blocks out there. The old BDA in the RS200 had to be warmed properly according to something I recently read. There have been a couple of 1000 bhp YB's in alloy IIRC.

Happily retired
The efr 9180/1.4 wont see 1000bhp on a 2 litre or even a 2.1 on an engine that's streetable. Turbo overspeed must be monitored & kept below 116k rpm. Mark went to 125k & saw 979bhp but it didn't last long. There will be a new EFR soon that will allow 125k on a 9180 framed Turbo. Mark has two on order. If 1000bhp is the aim I have a GTX4202 sitting in my wardrobe that will do it with ease on the correct engine. I use 1000bhp ITB's from Jenvey using 8 injectors not sure it it may be what this guy wants.

Your escos is pretty epic looking. What's the full spec of components?
