That's the new casting (MK2 if you like), the earlier alloy blocks did not have them, Mark Shead said that these were a great improvement.
They can go right up to 2.7l and 14mm higher block height if needed too.
I'd love to know the power potential of one of these if 1000bhp was possible on the old design. Good to see there's still delopment happening on these old donkeys.
