How many people have used these and are they any good?

I'm stuggling to find any decent pictures of them, does any one have any pictures showing where they fit as id like to understand what they stiffen and how.

Many modern cars have them across the car to join either side but i believe that most useful sierra improvement was front to rear connection ?

Any information greatly appreciated.

 

Only person I know of that has them is rod I think he suffered from chassis flex and they stopped it. Maybe worth pm'ing rod or asking mark how much of an improvement they made to the car or if they have any pictures

 

The Merkurs had full length chassis rails added to the standard sierra shell and a few race cosworths used the same items to stiffen the chassis.

 

They work will notice most approaching & entering a roundabout. More like a go cart than a wallowing whale probably sums up the difference. Mine was done about 15 years ago.

 

hmm very interesting anything to take some chassis flex away sounds good to me.

They connect from the Front ARB to ?

 

They connect from the front chassis rail where the arb is bolted to, to the rear beam mounting points. I do have some pics, but with photobucket not working I can't show them.

Are there any cross bracing pieces at any point. Im just supprised that 2 long independant tubes can provide the reported significant stiffening benefits.

Edit as I found a couple of pics on my PC that I had saved from PF years ago...
Adrenaline used to do them, they were round tubes and from what I remember had to be pre tensioned before welding them into place.

dont think Danny is around anymore - i was going to get these fitted to my moonstone 3dr years ago when he was looking for volunteers but stripped the car instead.

Looks a good mod and judging by feedback works well too

Rod will have the most compelling feedback for this as his car has been tested pretty extensively

 

It would indeed be a nice mod, but I wouldn't know how to get the parts and where/how to have them fitted now...

 

Get them made you only need a picture and a good chassis place that makes stuff like that

 

I still can't fathom out how to tension the bar before welding?

Yeah that does sound weird, I reckon its more about welding them in place whilst the body is loaded up as normal.. I.E. Fitting them on a four post lift rather that a two post?

 

This sounds correct, this youtube video shows how to install a set on an old mustang and explains to jack the car up on the suspension so it sags in the same way it would when sat on its wheels. Or use a 4 post ramp.

Think i'd be wanting a mid point welding/bolting to the floor to prevent tube movement/flex, based on the Sierra ones i've seen.

 

So jealous of the chassis bling you can buy for an Impreza...
