Is it possible that a car can be fitted with the wrong turbo ?
Hi everybody, hope all is well.
I have just got off phone to guy who I came across on the internet who is breaking a car the same as mine ( 2006 ford focus 1.8 tdci). I am after the turbo oil feed pipe.
There is a bit of confusion on which pipe my car requires, I remember a few months back somebody told me it looks as though the wrong turbo is fitted to my car.
is it possible that a wrong turbo can be fitted to a car ? I'm thinking it's not possible as surely it just would not fit ?
I ask because I don't want to buy the correct pipe if the wrong turbo is fitted .
cheers

thanks
who the fuck here will know since no one knows what turbo you have! take it to a garage so some one that knows what theyre doing can look at it.

mine is the mk2 focus (2006) sport 1.8 tdci, the pipe on my car now is completely botched so I do not know what the original looks like, somebody once said it looks as though the wrong turbo is fitted.

DV6 engine , eh ?? It is a 2006 ford focus sport 1.8 TDCI , the pipe on it now is completely bodged so have no idea what the original pipe looks like, also may have wrong turbo fitted to the car.
the ends on what is supposed to be the correct one obviously looks as though it will not be compatible as the base on the car has the same ends as the pipe.
which pipe do I need ?
here is the one that it needs apparently.
the apparent turbo oil feed pipe that is supposedly the right one
how can that be right when the ends of that pipe are the same as the base onto where ti should scrrew onto, how can 2 threads work ?
go to ford armed with chassis number and they will tell you what turbo should be on your car, then you can see if that is the one fitted to yours , while you are there ask for part number for oil pipe for this turbo.
AND AS SAID THE PIPE ON MY CAR IS COMPLETELY BODGED SO I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE ORIGINAL PIPE LOOKS LIKE
Or just ask random people on the internet to guess what pipe is on it
It's your choice
Or take off the oil feed pipe and look for a part number on it if not just follow the above advice
WHAT ORIGINAL PIPE ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????
I'VE TOLD YOU CURRENT PIPE IS COMPLETELY BODGE, I DO NOT HAVE A CLUE WHAT THE ORIGINAL PIPE LOOKS LIKE SO HOW CAN I COMPARE THEM ?
Your bodged oil feed pipe might still have a part number on it as it was fitted to your car and worked before the problems you had. I was only offering a way you maybe able to find out the correct number for it so hence get the correct pipe. As even tho you have bodged it it might still have enough of a part number off it.
listen, [ trouble is you dont ]
its so simple, step 1 go to ford with chassis number, step 2. return home and check part number from turbo from mr ford with your turbo number, now you no if its the right turbo or not. please note people on hear are trying to help you and are giving you good advice but you also have to help yourself.

The likely hood is you have a VNT turbo. If it was the wrong turbo it would ping up errors.
Also what's the chances ford even have 2 turbos that would just bolt on and work correctly?

Check part number on turbo. Go to Ford and ask if it is the correct turbo.
If it is ask for oil feed line for youre car, they will find it with youre Vin number.
If not order correct turbo and oil feed pipe.
Sorted

The turbo may have been swapped, so if ford say ''a'' is the right urbo, but the wrong turbo has been fitted than the right pipe may be ''b''
EDIT: SORRY, THAT BIT WAS USEFUL,. SO HOW EXACTLY DO i FIND THE PART NUMBER ON A TURBO ?
