As my first loves will always be MKII's here's a couple of mine from years gone by. The white one was completely built by me with Stg1 V6, Holly 4-barrel, 3-litre capri II box and rear axle. I was about 20 at the time. Run just under 16 at Santa Pod.

Vauxhall twin-lights and mk2 Escort flashers

Bought this Corsair just for the engine for the Cortina

I bought the red Lotus as you see it, drove it for a year - very disappointing - so sold it for a profit. got about £1,200 in 1990 or so IIRC.

Please don't tell me that 25 years later this is now worth £20k

The mk2 tina is one of my most favourite cars and it looks like you've had a good few of them!

This is my 1600GT I had about 10 years ago

They are called OZ Cronos, no longer made but I think they look good on my Saff. I was lucky a few months back to find one exactly the same for my spare wheel. It was on E-bay in Germany.

Vacuman. You have also had some nice cars. Did the Corsair have the 3.0 Essex V6 in it? I had stage 3 heads , different cam, rocker gear, Holley 4 barrel and a custom made twin exhast system on my Mk1 V6 Capri.
When I had my Lotus Cortina I bought a new big valve Lotus engine for it and it was also one of the first to have electronic ignition fitted. It was a quick car but not as brutal as my Uren Savage! Look at how much the Mk2 Lotus Cortinas are worth now,£20k or more is what a good one will set you back now!

Classic Consul drove much better as it had rack and pinion steering conversion - the MK2 was bloody awful to drive !

Mark V8 Proper old school Fords !! Both very nice cars. The Consul Classic was and still is iMO up there with the best. The one you had was registered on Isle Of Wight. Did you live there or just buy it from there?
The ex Uren Savage v8 must have been a head turner as well. Those were the days!!!

Same as me! I come from the I.O.W, and when I lived there we still had our own DL registration. I passed my test there and had my first of many Fords, an Anglia 105E. Put a 1500 Cortina GT engine and box in it.Wrote it off racing my mate in his MGB GT!!
There was a bloke who had a Consul Classic which he had modified and I remember being so jealous of his twin 40 dcoe side draught Webers!!! Two a penny now on most modified classic Fords but back then there were not many people who could afford them.
Been a Ford man ever since.

I had 2 custom made adjustable strut braces made by Spec R, a front and rear one. Very well made and I have never seen another Saff with the same ones.

I loved both of my 1600e Cortinas, so easy to work on and modify. The Uren Savage 1600e was my favourite, it had a lot of grunt!

I rented a yard once full of cars. Was told if I can clear all the cars then I could have 6 months free rent. One car was a 1600e cortina that had had a full respray. Only thing missing was the engine. Sold it to some local cortina boys for £150 this was back in late 90s/early 2000s though. Also pulled escort vans, sierras and xr3is out. Also a mk1 golf gti that we just dumped. Wish I could have that yard with cars again today!
