We're looking at an Audi q7 v12 TDI tmrw
I know we need to check carbon ceramic brakes are in good order, does anyone know anything else we need to check for ?

I would put down a £500 deposit and get it fully inspected by a dealer, get it wrong and I bet a £10k bill would not be unheard of. They will find something and that's just a bargaining chip.
I would also scour the net and merc forums.
I bought an E55 AMG and it had a service pack that had just expired, it still cost me £4K to put right and that was with a mate in the business

My E55 wasnt much more miles than that 72k IIRC, at 100k the torque convertor failed £3k, at 72k the supercharger charge cooler pump failed, the break booster failed, one of the heated seats failed....It was main supplying dealer history from new on service agreement.

Nothing lasts forever mate and it's a £100k car so repairs will always be costly, I've just looked at it and the carbon ceramic brakes appear almost brand new thankfully pulls like a freight train

That's pretty much what I was getting at scooby, the general body will share faults like the rest of the q7 range, I'll send my mate a txt as he was an Audi tech, pretty sure he sent me pics of a v12 tdi too so he's worked with them before.
My mate got back to me and said it was only the one he worked on, he's heard stories of 1 or 2 turbos going but never did any at his workshop, I guess it would be an engine out job on the v12, other than that his opinion was they where a good engine.
My point is to get it inspected, I assumed a main dealer car just at end of service pack would be problem free, it wasn't, I had big bills from day 1 but luckily the trader gave me a few grand back and my mate owned a merc dealership and got AMG to replace most out of warranty.
You was just unlucky but also lucky to have the people around you that you did, I agree that having it inspected is a good idea and if possible not by the garage your buying it from, trouble is the v12 tdi is going to be extremely specialist and most won't know the common problems as there isn't enough about to be common.
Oh and scooby, iirc you have to weight ceramic brakes to tell the amount of wear and when a disc needs replacing.
Here you go

My mate has a few super cars with ceramics and he has learned that you need to stand over the tyre fitters and make sure nothing is allowed to chip the disc with prior agreement that the garage understands what they are dealing with, he had a nasty experience and now uses one garage who agrees that if they chip them then they replace them.
Funnily enough the same bloke had a taurag v10 tdi and loved it, he only changed it for a Porsche biturbo 4x4 cayenne. I assume that is the same engine in the towrag as the Audi?

It's a special engine that's for sure doesn't really sound like a diesel
wonder if they can be remapped lol.
Outside doesn't look bad, the wheels look a bit lost in the archs (are they 19's/20's?)
the interior was what surprised me, for the cost/exclusivity of the car the interior didn't look that good, the steering wheel could have at least had a badge on the lower spoke like many lesser models, and the center console looked a bit strange compared to some other audi models.

Wheels are 21" it's deceiving because it's a massive car, performance bargain imo £37k for a £104k car, a new 3.0 TDI q7 is £48k
I've bought it today sod it, got 12 months platinum warranty in the deal, paddle shift like gtr had to have it
They can be remapped to 550 hp 1120 nm by msd lol

but then when I was in vegas last you'd see people rolling around with 24's and upwards on old sheds.
I have a paddle shift s4 steering wheel to fit to my daily but never got around to it, wasn't sure i'd be that interested in them.

It can apparantly pull 0.9 lateral g on a skidpan aswell, fook that lol
I know it's a diesel and a bit silly but my missus wanted a q7 and when I saw the v12 diesel well that was it
lmao
It's a thing with Audi like Bugatti with the veyron in financial terms where they lost money but just wanted to prove a point and make the maddest most powerful production diesel suv

Will do mate, I've just been looking on top gear lap times they ran one did 1-33.2 same as an r32 golf
Considering its 2.6 ton and shaped like a brick I guess thats good lol
0-100 mph in 11 seconds is what I like the most, should be effortless overtaking lorries 55-75 mph

Sounds like a money pit to me mate. Audi and Merc dealers are crooks in suits. If your going to keep it a long time and do some of the work yourself i guess it would make sense.
What happened to the wurth capri ?

0-100kmh 4.9 seconds, 0-160 kmh 11 seconds
1/4 mile 13.1
On a vbox so should be fairly accurate

I've just been to get some food so took the Audi, honestly the nicest car to drive I have ever driven, almost feels wrong how well it pulls being over 2.5 ton lol
Gets up to triple digits in no time, will get my v box in it sometime

I take it that it rides well even on 21's? I have found my 3 series quite noisey due to run flats which is a shame as the rest of the car is so good, I swapped from a Range Rover which was an excellent ride (when it worked) and we have often considered the Big Audi, are they all 7 seats?

It's blown me away, could cruise to the moon in complete comfort and silence 7 up

The only problem is the running costs, I've been told brakes are £14k ! But there is non carbon tarox brakes for about £3k, just the plastic cover for the engine us £444 so I'm guessing engine parts will be astronomical
lol
lol
