This car has had more shells and repairs over the years than the average banger at Wimbledon

For Ł200K I'd want more than 28lb/ft torque.

Number 1 wasn't missing. As Paul S says on the 500 forum, it was sold and went abroad (Norway IIRC?). Number 500 is missing and has been since the late 80's early 90's.

The story is iirc it is 001 BUT it is not the original shell as it was wrote off twice once by for and once by a magazine who had it for 2 days doing a article . It was the actual mule . Then sold by for and then generally miss treated for years after

You will find that 002 ect will be better sellable cars as they are original

That's right I remember now. No 1 sounds like it's had a hard life and at Ł200k

I take it the fuel rail is rubbing off the battery tray then seen as they decided to chop it to stop the rubbing and this guy says his hasn't been chopped.

Do its just a 3dr shell then. Is the RS500 shell different in any other ways.

No1 like said above is a well known pile, nothing wrong with new shells etc if your going to enjoy the car and use it but to try and get that amount for a car it needs to be anorak original.

I would say about a third of the asking price is its most optimistic value given its link to number 1 otherwise its a sub Ł60k example.

I know the price is ridiculous but I like the fact it's got some history.

There's a story behind it & that for me is what makes these cars what they are.

Personally I'd rather own this than one that had sat in a bubble all it's life.

See it was modified by pickfords 😂

Cannot see how that boost hose is genuine either with its blue internals.

Good luck to them.

wasn't this the one that was in a ford magazine after the guy bought it and couldn't find it on the register so contacted someone to be told it was number one shortly before the engine went pop?

Nice bit of history but pretty sure they just thought of a number and doubled it when they were coming up with the price..
