Car show rant
Seen this Cossie at various Essex shows. There will always be 'haters' of our cars regardless whether they are standard, modified etc. It's your car and do what you wish and fook the lot of them.

I was at a"classic" car show last week in Knowle and I use the term "classic" since they were letting in Brand New McLarens, Lambos and 'Rarris but turning away 80's Audis, BMWs and even an 3 Dr RS. That reminds me I need to post the photos I took from that meet up at some point. But same principle goes. Got a stern speaking to due to removing one of my Headlights on the Saph to which I responded it isn't a MINT LOW MILE ORIGINAL CAR... It's my car and I will do as I like to it (whilst pointing out my OMP Steering Wheel and Aftermarket Stereo lol) I would understand if it was a concourse standard car but it never has been and hasn't intended to be.
I was at Castle Combe this weekend for RS Combe and the response it got there was great. Something different and the looks you get from people once they notice the Air Duct was amazing since they all want to see what is underneath the Bonnet. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but there are some things that really grind my gears and that is one of them

this is the reason I no longer book classic ford as they fucked me about proper and I followed all the rules with correct age criteria of cars on stand, then next to out shitty location was a local rsoc group with modern cars on it and I know not the fault of the club but it is total ignorance of whoever booked the car onto the stand for taking the piss

Not just VW, it's everything here.
Had a huge LOL at an Avensis the other day. Huge negative camber on rear wheels, car scraping the ground, occupants bouncing around like fuck, and front wheels whith huge positive camber...and tyres that dont fit.
You'd maybe expect that shit on some other cars..but a fucking Avensis ? LOLOL Just made it even more ridiculous.

I agree Steve. Why would you worry what people you don't know, think. In the end its a car & in the real world 99% of people don't give a hoot about any car let alone yours. You are in a small minority of fanatics that fawn & curse over cars. If you take your car to these shows it will get good & bad comments. There's a guy called 'My mate' who attends all the shows & he always has the Cleanest, Fastest & Best cars out there.

There's a guy called 'My mate' who attends all the shows & he always has the Cleanest, Fastest & Best cars out there.

Used to have an import impreza so went on scoobynet and the like.
Guys used to stroke the conkers off themselves over an import integra as the exhaust was 0.250" bigger than a ukdm teg and the headlights were different.
Remember a funny cartoon sketch on 1 forum,2 us guys in it,1 had bought a jdm ashtray and thought it was great,other guy asked why?
His answer " it's the same as my usdm ashtray but smells of Japanese cigarettes" and that pretty much sums up proper jdm I thought,the same thing but maybe a little different but not better in most cases.

If you thought that was funny, you want to see the Lexus IS200/IS300 boys. They go mad for "JDM" parts, and there's even a "JDM North" (as in north UK) meet - all for a car that wasn't sold in Japan.

I say at least these kids are into cars whatever we think of the cars there keeping the interest alive. Older guys probably thought what we did in the 90s with cars was horrific and prob their elders at the time too. Each to their own I suppose

Just idiots ignore any shite that emits from their mouths, talking of the funny vw lickers, i once had a guy put a picture up and slate my Capri on the vw forum he ran, get this though it was a guy I knew from a few years back from boy racer days but he didn't know the Capri was mine, he slated it because I had German pressed plates, he thought it was funny to question in his slate why there's German plates on a turd built in Dagenham, when I got told about it I signed up to his site informed him who I was and ripped shreds off him, informed him that the car was actually built in cologne and asked him why he had German plates on a car that wasn't even built in Germany, funny i was banned from the site within 5 minutes and the thread dissapeared after I'd embarrassed him in front of his sheep, he also didn't turn up at the local shows for a while either

Just ignore these sorts of people at car shows. Most of them are bitter losers anyway.
Do what I do, stand by your car and don't tell anyone it's yours and listen to what they say. considering my car is reasonably well presented I had some good ones at Ford Fair last year and a couple at Central Day this year.
My favourite was "Yeah, it's nice, but he's spent money in the wrong areas. Look, it's even running a shitty BC gearbox"

Just ignore them. It's your car and as long as your happy with it then that's all that should matter. You will probably find they turned up to said show in mummy's mk1 micra or the likes haha

I couldn't care if someone wants to ''JDM'' their car or stance their car. It's theirs. So long as it isn't going to cause a danger to other road users, lower it within reason, stick as many stickers on it as you want, buy ''JDM'' parts, or be obsessive over the best wheels that have more spokes than my bicycle has in total. But don't call someones pride and joy shit just because you don't like it. I once went to a meet where some hooded cunt asked me to do a burnout, and after saying no he said to his mate ''bet he got his car off his gran'' Funny considering it's one of a few of the model left, and everyone else loved it. Every circus has it's clown

I had a similar experience, went to a local meet or cruise or whatever they called it a few years back, was down a massive retail park not far away. Wasn't really my scene anymore but was a night out. As everyone was driving off there was a crowd of people lined up either side of the exit. Everyone got taunted with "burn out burn out". Those that didn't got a load of mouth. When it came to my turn to leave I got the same treatment. I didn't do anything and some guy shouted "pussy" so IGot out the car and shouted "it's four wheel drive you fxxxin prick". That got a good round of laughs and made him look small in front of his little chav mates. Never gone back since
