As I always thought that things which so strongly hinted at a commerical interest would not be allowed even if they didnt contain your company name explicitly.

My user name was SECS before I started a business.
SECS was not my business name. (Proof can be provided)
I havent been a trader for nearly 6 years.
I still cant have the user name SECS.

Yes I had that name while I was a trader but the person in question had his name while he was trading too.

It "seems" rules are made to fit depending on who you are !

NOTE: I only brought this up as it was mentioned by others to illustrate a point that rules are not applied fairly which undermines the site greatly IMO.

exactly. the spelling and grammar thread clearly only got to 20 pages by willing members enjoying some world famous PF banter. it was obvious what it was about eventually, so if one didn't want the piss ripped out of oneself, one shouldn't have posted in it. if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

it seems that those who struggle to write correctly have a massive chip on their shoulders about it that harks back to their school days stuck in the remedial room with a speak & spell whilst the normal kids were in the playground

Hmm,again some good stuff coming up.right,from a personal point of view,I'm totally chuffed that stu s looking at my suggestion of a classified ad scheme,I mentioned this to a few mods at the time and it was totally rubbished,glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks it could work and that the head honcho is considering it,well done stu.

As for newbies not getting questions answered,I personally will try and answer any question on any subject I have knowledge on to any newbie,oldie etc I can.they may not always be text book answers but if I don't know,I won't say.if I've answered a question regarding cat c/d cars once I've done it about 50times,yes some idiot will always disagree but surely that's what a forums for,debate?

As for putting subjects in gd I don't think that's a bad idea really,as it's (I'm guessing) where the majority of users look first(being top of the list of areas helps!!) and I will say that I rarely look in other rooms unless I'm searching for something in particular before I get lost and ask in gd anyway!!!

If you think thats detrimental to the site then I personally don't see an issue in changing gd's parameters to exclude cars,other makes etc so it really is only "general discussion".

Going back to a point earlier regarding vehicle movements and how the thread was replied to quicker for a more established member.not so much the point of reply,more that I have a big car trailer and 4x4 that I would be willing to lend out for a nominal fee to cover tyres,wear etc to pf members.now,I can't offer this service as it's considered advertising,therefore trade rates apply.

Now,for the maybe once in a blue moon someone actually wants to use it I would have to pay Ł50 PCM for the privilege.so now,I need to charge a fee as well to get back the trailer hire which I was quite prepared to originally let out at mates rates.

If you get my point there's no sense of community anymore.

I'm also on retrorides forum and there's a completely different "vibe".no negativity is allowed,if you critisise someones car,non constructively,you get banned,or at least reprimanded.

For sale ads have to 100% follow set pattern to avoid idiotic comments.,I.e price,location in title and then contact details,tax,ticket,mileage,colour in the blurb otherwise it goes to purgatory until sorted.

You can advertise your business in your sig and there's even a section where if youve got an empty trailer,you can ask to bring peoples cars back for cut price rates.

They have an industrial unit where you can work on the cars at certain points of the year,spraydays,bbq's etc etc.

I'm not saying that's the only way to go but it's growing nicely as a website and there's few critics of it's running and even less of others cars over there.

Just some food for thought as fundamentally this is a great place to be and I love it.a few tweaks and the site will be a total winner,I'm sure of it.

Also,on the subject of Rs specialist as a moderator I found him ok in my case recently after my car advert got removed.perhaps a touch heavy handed but it did get sorted unlike when this happenned to me before and it went round the houses with the type of replies Peter Mandleson would have been proud of!!!

The debate went on for days all because I stuck up for a woman who really wanted an x5 which I thought was a good plan in Canada with the snow etc.fuck me,the environmentalists were out,safety police,insurance/petrol cost experts,moral highground peeps etc etc.

In the end I had to offend someone as he kept on about anybody who owned a BMW was a self centred wanker who was only concerned with image rather than the cars deficiencies. I told him he was jealous because he could never afford one and it didn't go down well,but it was the truth IMO.

Can't say I've been back much but I got a few emails about a month later from two women on there who thanked me for sticking up for them as theyd received some nasty emails telling them that they wouldn't be welcome on that website unless they toed the line!!!!

Turns out their both lovely women who have tried to help me and mine out with Canada far more than any prick on that website,I never had one response of any decency from the cocksuckers over there,always just "use the wiki function".

My take was they were just very jealous people who knew they couldn't get out to Canada as their professions weren't required and just went out of their way to spoil it for those that were eligible.cunts.

but it should all be in a designated room.
dave should be only allowed access to the muppet room.lol
and banter should be restricted to a named room,then you cant offend the new members.
i like the idea of a ebay type system for selling items,it would make the site a lot of income,shame it would kill off the traders who have overheads,and favour the bedroom trader who can sell things cheaper.

I'd like to see clear rules.

I had bought GOLD MEMBERSHIPS so I could sell 4 cars [at once]. I created the thread advertising the cars and it got deleted by a mod.

No one sent me a message to let me know it was deleted or why it was deleted.
I sent a message to a mod and to be honest he was arrogant and I really didn't liuke his way of doing. Gold members state that one can sell up to 4 cars, which is what I did. No where it says you can not sell them all at once. Oh and I paid for Gold just to sell those 4 cars.

To be honest I left the site after that, It's not like there aren't any other forums on the internet. I have been using other forums [One of which SELOC.org] were things are more friendly and mods are help full.

 

Your right mate, and thats why I am leaving this topic running whilst we discuss further progress in the mods room, I need more members with balls like yourself to tell it how it really is rather than the usual core of suspects jumping on and telling me the place needs to stay as it is. I can see from the analytics that the core membership still comes here almost every single day, but most of them no longer post. I can guess why...
