actually now hes not sunburnt and tired hes quite liking the idea,
we worked out some figures and evne to go the v8 route is massivly cheaper then the specced yb i wanted ,
450 hp 420 ftlb , unstressed and that 1000% relaiable and would take my abuse all day long
thats befor you start talking bout uprated cams and superchargers lol

i think what ever engine ya put in there it will be different i think every carnt wait till its done i didnt see the escorts on sunday but iv looked into escort cosworth with v8s in the was a performance ford mag it was a orange one and had lots of horse power and filled the bay very nicely would look very different in a mk3 tho and i have never seen one

ok so been offerd a 4.6 svt cobra motor but there only around 300 ish at stock tune ,
still kinda swayed to the ls2 atm ,
but ill have to look into the svt engines when i get bk from work in the morning ,

they do actually have covers andy that hide all the coildpacks ect , and give it a clean look
just neither for the two escos's ran covers lol

is there something in the water up your way beef with ls1's & 2 , i was talking to jacko at ford fair about his mates castrol mk1 escort running rover v8 and he said he was trying to convince his mate to put an ls1 in it lol

the ls1 isnt really the best engine , after speaking to a few folk on this if your going to go ls , needs to be at least an ls2
yeah aparently jackos been given a ls1 and a supercharger kit off some one
id like friends who give away 4ks worth of engine !!
andys mk 1 is the nuts , !! deserves a proper v8 imo !!
the gen 4 ls2 variant is the 6.0 mate , 400 out the crate iirc ,

I will try and find the link, but there is some nutter out there getting 1100BHP and over 1000 ft/lb's with a twin turbo setup on a (i think) LS6

hence why there at a premium , but you get what you pay for ,
the covers are ace , will give a super clean look to the bay ,
check out this
aps ls2 twin turbo setup , it relocates the turbos to the rear of the engine , making clearance ,



and how it looks under the bay of a gto

ok so for thge folks , who didnt go to ford fair and may be thinking what the fucks an ls2 -ls1
heres a couple pics of the cheesman motorsport escos running one


note the notch in the front panel , due to running a FAST 102 throttle body
there home build exhaust manifolds

and a pic of the underside , note the use of a modded 2wd front crossmember and standard no ps rack ,
the cm has to be modified to clearance the sump , hard to spot in the pics ,

and note the mod to stock ls sump , its had to be notched , me and daz aka cragrat and a good stare and reckon its around 60 mm to clearance the rack ,

but .........................
after a bit of research i found this

its a stock gm cast oil pan thas slimline at the front with a deeper rear section that should do away with the nessacary mods to both the sump and the rack ,





the parts of my yb are slowly coming bk together , should start assembly in a weeks time ,

At last beefy you are seeing sense with the V8, as they are are bullit proof and can be modded for not a lot of cash compared to a YB, its one of the reasons I want to fit one in my cab when I have the money.

had a fone call eairler from a gent selling a full package here in the uk ,
unfortunately what the engine owes him and what i can import one for are quite away apart
plan is get the yb build and sold , and go from there !!!
