Well after finishing stripping the engine I found that one of the crank journals has some light marks on it so the crank needs a grind and also found that the block thats already at +1mm is fucked, Gutted was the word for the evening, still onward and upward, I have taken the decision to forget the current engine and buy another one, hopefully by the end of the week I should have a Harvey 400 400 engine to slot into it

also just fitted some different wheels

I got my self 2 sets and sold the spare and my greens and was in proffit but Ł50
Still got to get a chip off Stu and then its over to Jay to set it up for me
Love the look of the wheels as Rich say's keep them WHITE

well after an 8am start its been a very long day and not nearly as productive as I wanted, I started by stripping off parts of trhe new engine that I didnt want like the 2wd water pump and thermostat, this all took place with the engine still in the boot of my trusty rusty vectra. One of my friends arrived a few hours later complete with engine crane which was handy, we got the engine out of the boot, gave it a clean up, swapped the sump and all the other 4wd ancillaries that wheer required and got the engine and box back into the car, I still have the job of connecting all the water fuel electrical and power steering so a few more evenings and it should be running.

I will get some pics of engine in car once its a bit further along

got another 2 hours in on the car tonight before it got dark, feels like winter is bloody here already
anyway, got the wiring loom all connected up, turbo oil feed on rocker cover changed, and lots of other odds and sods that needed doing, also took the turbo steady off as it was cracked, its being welded up for me tomorrow, lastly I purchased some heat control stuff today to make sure that my lack of heat shield does not do any damage, wrapped the exhaust manifold, sleaved the clutch cable and coolant pipe that runs along the side of the head, hopefully a few more nights and it should be running. and ready for rally day

Oil leak all done, its running and I have been for a drive
However as soon as I put my foot down it blew the intercooler to throttle body hose off, I have had 5 goes at it but the hose is knackered, its just to short and wont seal properly, I also noticed that the radiator bracket (from rad to chassis rail) has a crack in and has leaked a small amount of coolant despite having the correct rubber rad mounts, bloody thing, so before 5am on saturday I need a new boost hose and to get the radiator welded up.

Well the car made it to combe and back with no issues, I tightened the plenim bolts up and all the boost hoses on saturday morning at 4am
car didnt use and oil or water didnt smoke or even miss a beat all the way, bit of an issue with the front prop hitting the downpipe so this has to come off for a bit of modding, here's a quick pic of the car on the Devon and Somerset stand.

After asking for some advice in genaral discussion and Martin kindly telling me that the answer to my rubbing problem was to cut the front pipe about so I did the following
Chopped it up

All welded back together

purchased some new wrap, some new front prop bolts and a new mikalor clamp and some stainless tie wraps for the exhaust

re wrapped

Fitted and pleanty of clearance

And at last I can drive it without it bloody rubbing
