An interesting event just happens to coincide with the trip: Toyo Tuning Days

http://www.toyotuningday.de/

Including a drift challenge around the F1 circuit, pit girls, show cars and all the usual other attractions.

It could be a VERY busy weekend - so lets hope the track remains open and there are no messy crashes....

ON-UJAH, good find. will be worth a looky look i reckon.

i've registered for a paddock pass and to enter the burnout and race competitions. don't know if i'll take it up, but i've got the option there if the 'ring closes or rains or whatever

you pay for your tickets on the day as it where... just to the right of where you go on is the ticket booth so pull into the carpark and go pay for it and pick up a few of the leaflets.. Also worth while double checking the car is ok and you have enough fuel... if you can avoid it don't go on the track with a full tank of fuel

I''ve heard rumours that those with Toyo passes spay 10 Euro a lap on the Nordschleife (don't ask me how they are going to arrange that - could be cobblers IMHO)...it says on the website that those participating with their cars get 20 minutes on the GP circuit included, so that would be worth the entry money as they very rarely open the circuit up to the general public outside of very expensive 'drive a Zakspeed' type events.

It also says clubs are welcome to show on the paddock - maybe Pf could get together and present 10 cars in the paddock or something...

I went to the ring in June & as long as your discreet about cameras you should be fine - dont bother with tripods etc as they'll just moan but if your passenger wants to film it you should get away with it. If you do get caught its usually just a day ban.

Its an amazing experience though!

Im off to the norschelife friday to sunday. Have recently discovered this place and now addicted (this is my 4 th trip in 2ish months) Also building a car to leave over their for next year. I will be in a black esc cos, come say hello and blag a passenger lap

Few bits worthy of a mention

Dont speed to much or have a visible radar detector in Belgium, they dont like it and it will cost ŁŁŁ. 120mph+ will get your car confiscated. Watch out for spotter planes.

Take it real slow on your first lap, its not like gt4/forza etc. A mate of mine crashed (with me in passenger seat) and it cost Ł1400 for armco Ł300 for recovery and storage and Ł300 for us to collect it the next week (bargin!!) - dont count on your euro recovery (direct line) if you crash they wont help. His car is very broken.

If you want to drive fast wear a helmet. It isnt a very forgiving and virtually no run off. Most of the track is driven at very very hign speeds.

Best/easiest route in my opinion is e40/258 (258 from Aachen) not Eupen - the Eupen route on www.nurburgring.org.uk is very very bumpy for a fair few miles, going via aachen is a little bit further.

Check you insurance for the normal sort of exclusions, also worth checking your cover doesnt revert to minimum required (3rd party) in the country you are visiting.

Ring is open to public:
Saturday from 17:15 until 19:30
Sunday from 08:00 until 19:30

Have Fun

No problem. Their will be people a lot faster than me though still dont know it well enough to drive it @ 100% (probably never will in the cossie dont want to hurt it)

Locals in mk2 golfs or e30 325i and ring taxis are the ones to watch

ferrari bloke was just going out after ripping various bits of bust carbon off

watch out for the traffic, this was just after it reopened from a crash it closed again real soon

They wont let you out if you have a camera mounted in the car... You can still video stuff by stealth tho, just dont make it real obvious. I think they are trying to avoid video of accidents making it out to the media.

Guys riding bikes (twices as fast as most other bikes) with yellow bibs on are marshalls.

It aint a circuit its a one way toll road

A marshall flew by us when we were filming at easter but didnt see us.

Always move over for the locals the pace they come by is unreal.

Ring taxi pah wheres rainbird in his lo boost cossie, highlight of my last trip that pushing the taxi round then ripping by

Everyone is very friendly i had a spot of bother once when my electric window motor shorted out and no end of people offered there services etc.

Cant wait for friday me too have sort of got addicted to the place
