Praying the weather holds out

 

Several reasons including time, budget and the fact that we were only allocated enough tickets to get 3 cars on the stand, so it would look really empty and like we hadn't bothered - It's better to not have a stand at all, than a half-arsed one.

We haven't got the budget to buy extra tickets (it costs us to attend, and we make no money from going there), and we can't expect owners to pay for their own ticket to go on our stand.

I totally understand that the organisers need it to be profitable, and can't give too many tickets away, but considering the amount of promotion we do for the show before and after the event, plus having the mag there as an 'attraction' far outweighs the value of a few extra tickets!

We are sending a snapper so will be running a full show report on it as usual. And will continue to support the show editorially, and with pre-show coverage next year...

Shame that Dan but I totally understand where your coming from as very fews events thesedays actually wave attraction fees and all clubs have to pay to exhibit their cars at these shows even though they are the attraction in the first place

 

If we just rocked up and expected loads of free tickets then I could understand - but if you were to convert the volume of editorial into the cost of similarly sized adverts then we've paid for the space many times over – and that's always been the agreement with all the RS shows for years. I'm not throwing my toys out about it, and there are no hard feelings. We'll continue to promote the shows before and after the event as usual.

In their defence it's a tall order arranging a whole event in between doing a proper job! And I certainly don't expect 'special' treatment just because we're a magazine - but yes, it is disappointing that they don't value the mag's attendance.

 

I'm sure I'll see you at Ford Fair - there will be a 3-door sized space with your name on it on our stand!

Me and my mate will be there with our 24v XR4i won't be on a stand just going up for the strip, think it could be the fastest car built for under a grand! Can't be hardly any cars there bought and built to current spec for less than a grand so shouldn't have any competition! it ran a 14.1 last time we went but that was just one run and we didn't have N.O.S then so hoping it will be well in the 13s this time.

 

I certainly understand your reasoning that's for sure as times are tough for everyone, last years central show was pretty dire and the weather certainly did not help so we shall see what happens on sunday, so I can make a decision on if I will have a PF stand there next year or simply attend non club based ones such as Classic Ford/Ford Fair & the BTCC etc

 

so who will be the first person to take pics of the empty space where ff used to be then i wonder................

so no one from ff is going at all? even to use up the free tickets? assuming you've got some?

I would of died for Fast Ford to attend at the shows I have organised, does seem really strange but Central Day has been going years so they must know what they are doing.

no mate I'm happy to host any nice type of car as we are a visiting club its up to us, only fords get front row etc
