the main issue is most people use PF as a forum due to the numbers on here, but most belong to other clubs, for instance take the rsoc as 60% of their members use this site daily but they dont post on their own specific site which is strange or even post in their own specific regional sections, I have many ideas in the pipeline for 2013 so you never know but staging a PF event is a way off yet but im happy to work with other clubs on a joint venture

yea get what your saying, i just find it strange that we never, all get together and do some events, even if we all just meet at a run event, like a thread of who is doing what track day next, just so we can all join in with some other members from here. i will start...
castle combe 3rd of aug, turbo sport day,
llandow 25th aug trackdays.co.uk

I see no reason why it cant happen as I was brought in by Stu to get the shows and events things up and running, my first task was ford fair which has been a success with basically 100 cars on stand and then we are at the BTCC touring cars at silverstone on october 7th, and believe it or not I am planning already for 2013 with ace cafe days and show bookings

If the little clio forum I use can manage it its hardly a big deal for a site the size of PF!
Then once the precedent is set, it would be a piece of cake to extend it to bigger and better tracks as well.

If anyone has contacts in the field and believe they can make it happen then thats fine, just remember there is no events fund or bank acc to pay for such events in advance, my priority for 2012 is shows, so for it being nonsense chip hardly. Funds need to raised first to even consider the idea with definate attendee numbers, location also being central is a no brainer this club is still learning to walk so running is a way off yet

Do mallory then. Still a nice cheap track.
Most are from UK, but I dont think there is a split north to south or east to west particuarly, other than obviously more people live in densely places like london than anywhere else in the uk so hence more pf users are likely to.
geniune question. where are most pf members from?

to book a track in most cases the cash needs to be raised and a securing deposit placed at that venue to make it a definate which means money up front, the more regional a event is the less likely it will appeal to the masses so bear that in mind my personal feelings are a joint venture with another club who has the contacts and track already in place then see how it works out and if viable a solo plan can be brought in

The way I have done events for other clubs, is just pay a deposit myself and then flog the places afterwards, not like you will be short of takers on here so I dont see the problem TBH.
Tell you what Steve, we're a bit late for this year, but remind me in jan/feb and I will personally sort out a couple of trackdays for PF to get the ball rolling.
If you want I can add a small amount to each ticket (say a tenner) to add into a central fund so that they generate enough deposit that it pays for the next one once we have a couple out of the way.
If the spaces dont sell on here, im sure they will on other forums etc anyway ,so I am quite happy to personally take the "risk" of ending up a couple K out of pocket if it doesnt work, cause I am so sure it will.

well done chip, you know that between all of us track day nuts the tickets would fly, just find it strange that i have to go on other forums to check out well priced track days, like cliosport, pistonheads, ect, lets try and start a track days who,s who. i could talk to maria at combe or mike at apex track days

Talk to me re: 2013.
We're already planning rsoc croft 2013 and discussing selling full sessions to outside groups etc. It would lessen the risk to pf if it wasn't a full track day to pay for and you could purchase just the one session ie: 25 places for pf members only. Remember the our event is also a 2 dayer too so we have 150 places over 2 days!!

if you're not worried about turning a profit there are companies out there that will do all the bookings etc for you all you need to do is get the members to book on.
The fiesta forum i am on does these every 3 or so months just have a group book on an open pit day

i think the simplest thing to do would be to get a session booked at ford fair next year specifically for pf members rather than shelling out a couple of grand on a dedicated track day
there will always be an excuse why people won't make it and why should anyone have to be out of pocket, even if it is chip
if it works by piggy backing onto other groups complete track days then fine as we have some sort of idea of numbers etc as well as the ability of other members driving rather than have 50 blokes turn up with no idea and then crashing into each other
