i think there were quite a few impreza owners who hadnt done track before and expected to own the track-how surprised they were......the number of clear novices who come unstuck at druids and lodge corner always amazes me.
and how clever was it for the impreza driver to blow his engine and keep going round the track spewing oil as far as he could instead of just pulling onto the grass and die!
morning wasnt brilliant but ive learnt that oulton is much better in the afternoons.
i seemed to have decent clear runs in the afternoon or was able to get through the traffic easily enough.
sorry to hear you didnt enjoy it and it was nice to meet you.
maybe donnington next time.

As I wasn't running my car on track, I did get to drive one the impreza's for about 20 laps and hopefully during my time in the car I didn't upset anyone, saying that there wasn't much catching me at the time.
Overall for the day it was tainted by the stoppages but to be fair I don't believe any where due to the first time impreza hooligans. As for the queuing for track entrance I though this was daft. Why oversubscribe the day by soo much that you faced a 20 to 30 min wait everythime you tried to get on track due to the maximum number of cars already being out.

4 of the Impreza owners had bought the cars just to come to this track day and had no experience at all, meaning in the car or on the track. I had popped along as I knew 1 of them and they basically saw it as a chance to race each other and ignore anyone else. 2 of the cars ended up being towed home the third wouldn't hold any sort of revs and the fourth wouldn't engage 5th gear. Trouble is they have bags of cash and no interest in anything other than being hooligans on track, and will do it again and again.

i can see where you are coming from and i think i can easily work out who those people were and to be honest i know quite few people who would do the same.if its the people i am thinking it was i thought it was quite funny they brought along a mazda rx8 on trade plates for the pm sessions........
it certainly wasnt just the impreza boys though-the old honda prelude i saw screwing it out of the pitlane was funny as i said "i bet he doesnt do one lap without coming off" as i came round lodge-there he was in the gravel......all part and parcel of track days as far as im concerned, and as long as they dont take me off with them im happy.
its very easy to have a quick road car and think it will be just as awesome on track-which soon becomes clear it isnt.....over the last year or so i have learned a lot and modified my car to suit the punishment a track day gives out.
nobody really got in my way all day to be honest as i think my aggresive driving style gets me past most things!
i only managed about 60 miles of track driving due to the stoppages and a misfire but still enjoyed the day....ive had much worse at oulton.

yeh, got a bit carried away posting pics (might take a few out)
i'm suprised there is not a few more sideways shots, it was a bit twitchy as demonstrated on one of the vids
it was a great day- track is superb, well worth a visit
