my day at oulton park trackday.
first proper trackday for me.done a few laps at ford fair,but not a full day.
anyway,fitted the ds2500 pads last week and the racing brake fluid.fingers crossed for the weather.............
got there,signed on then out for a few sighting laps.track a bit damp but not raining at the time-lets hope it stays dry!
first proper laps and i find myself following one of the guys i know who has a 300 bhp ex-race beetle.its a quick car and well set up and is normally one of the quicker cars on the days.find myself doing quite well,keeping up with him for the 5 laps im out-until my clutch starts smelling a bit and feeling a slight slip coming hard out of the corners-but great fun and the big bus feels pretty good-brakes ok,tyres seem ok.
then it rains and for the rest of the day its a slippy circuit every time i go out.every time i try to put the power down,the rear end begins to step out-interesting.......still do quite a few laps and enjoy it,just being a bit more careful and trying to feather the throttle coming out of the corners.
by 4pm the circuit was very slippery and a few "moments" make me think maybe its time to call it a day.
overall a good day and i enjoyed it-even with the rain.i think i may need to sort out some better tyres for next time and maybe a clutch!brakes didnt fade but experienced some slight judder towards the end of the day.
a couple of pics;
then the rain came!
car was filthy by the end! especially the wheels!
