Brilliant thread PON, Some stunning work there.
Especially like the use of Aoroquip braiding, how you fixed for supplying brake and fuel hose to us Passionford lot for a reasonable price?

Always up for supplying it, but I have to bear in mind I'm not a trader on here, so will tread carefully re: that issue as is only fair.

Some more bits and pieces:

Neil @ Carwise comes up trumps with one of his oh so tasty billet fuel rails. Words cannot describe just how good the quality of these are

Installed with the correct length braided hose and aeroquip fittings:

The loom also mounts at the same point clipped in place with some rubber lined heavy duty p-clips (can't stand it when looms are cable tied to the rail)....

Brand new set of greens after last set were robbed!

Injectors in the rail - perfect fit and seal.

All fitted in to the engine (been out for two years!)

Loom neatly clamped in place.

Custom diff mount (cheers Brom) fitted to get everything in and tight. Can see the 10.5 Jag diff and rose jointed beam quite nicely in these pics.

Solid beam mounts (cheers Tim Finch ) fitted up.

Rear brake lines all made up in custom configuration......

..... to enable them to neatly run from the 4x4 caliper straight up

Loads more to come, as I reckon it'll be moving and on the road in 10 days! Loads to do, and soooo much more aeroquip purchased for custom breather setup!

Watch this space.................

Damo - replied to your PM.

Bailey - regarding the coilovers on the rear, you usually have to persuade the arch back gently with a big fook off mallet!

It happens on all 2wd saffs, and I've had to do it on both of mine I've had..........

Just had a good read and i'm well impressed with it Rich, such a shame your gonna brake to fooker after all your hard work!

It's not hard to see how much of a good job you've done with everything, looks like you've been so meticulous with it all, the only way to be IMO!

Hope you get the enthusiasm back for it, and get it on track!

Nice one Rich, any updates ?

Did you use PFTE tape on the Aeroquip fittings ?

Not yet mate - only update is that I might have been too hasty with my decision to sell it.

It'll go at some point, but as a few people have suggested, it wont sit well with me unless I drive what I've put all that time and money into.

As for your question, you don NOT use PTFE tape on proper aeroquip fittings whatever you do!

Okay - I couldn't resist any longer.

After doing National Day in the MR2, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I realised that I miss not having the cossie, and that I don't want to get rid of it just yet. It's gonna mean some sacrifices, but it will be worth it at least for the time being.

It also didn't help that the day after I decided to get rid, a load of stuff turned up on my doorstep that just made me want to put it all together, and get driving.

So the plan is to finish it with as little expense as possible, get it driving and reliable. Then, and only then will I go for all the other suspension stuff I want.

So updates are as follows:

I had to do a cambelt change. Basically, I saw a small nick in the belt and I couldn't afford not to change it, so bearing in mind I can't remember the last time one was done, I ordered up a Group A belt and tensioner:

I'd never done a cambelt before, so I was very wary, and knew that the crank pulley would be a bitch. After nearly a day trying to get the pulley off, and with it breaking (not the back of the pulley missing)

I had to get a secondhand 2wd pulley (which are rare as you like - cheers cossyabuser), and then I did the dreaded belt change. Once the pulley was off, I found it quite simple, and I made sure that the rotor arm lined up with the mark on the dizzy, because of course, the pulley pointer wouldn't have been in the right place thanks to a previous owner

Anyway, got the belt change done fine, and found I needed to replace the rocker cover gasket because of a couple of very bad leaks:

Was easy enough to do, so whipped off the rocker cover (don't worry - I took the tissue out the spark plug holes )

and got it all cleaned up, and refitted:

Had to kncok up two brake lines to go from the brake resevoirs to the master cylinders, so made up these:

Now the exciting bit

Got Lee @ Fusion to knock me up a custom one-off breather. I sold my old Spec-R one a while back, as I wanted to go fully custom aeroquipped, and here's what he came up with

It has a -12 from the inlet side, a -10 from the exhaust side, a -12 return to sump, and a -12 outlet to the "catch tank" which will be a Bailey mirror image item when funds allow. At the moment, it's an old Volvic bottle

Got in all the aeroquip needed, in both -10 and -12, and the adaptor for the side of the block:

Couple of shots of the separator with the quip fittings on to check the angles:

Then made up all the hoses to the correct length:

Fitted the take off to the exhaust side:

Then fitted it in:

Better pics will be available when I've got it exactly where I want it, as I want it to be solidly mounted, and not interfere with anything.

Also decided I didn't like the metal bulkhead at the top of the engine bay, so ripped it out, and am making up a new panel for the power distibution section.

Updates will be reasonably paced, but I've capped the spending for a while. Plan is to get the car, money allowing, completely finished , painted in its colours ready for Central Day.

Enthusiasm has been renewed
