Not yet I dont think.

I'm pretty sure the Gobstopper was quicker overall, but AG was quicker round knockhill and possibly on another circuit too iirc, but can't remember exactly to be sure now.

Have stripped all the running gear down ready to prep and paint, have all the suspension components ready to go on, just ordered some nice AP Racing brakes and pedal box and going to order one of those fandango subframes from Frayz' mate and then it's close to be able to get rolling again.
bloody hell, where do you get your patience(sp?) from? iv been building my car for 2 year's or just shy of, and im going mad, i just want to have a go now
how long have you actually been building this for?

In its present form, just approaching three years.

Over 5 years in total now, but in early 2008 I scrapped the ideas I originally had and took it the direction it's going now.

In short, I've got all the brakes courtesy of Mike Rainbird:

-AP Racing 6-Pot front calipers and 362mm Discs
-AP Racing 4-Pot rear calipers and 335mm Discs
-AP Racing floor mounted Pedal Box and individual master cylinders

Also got all the suspension plus the latest delivery from the US of Perrin ARB's, Control arms and quite literally everything they do for under the car handling-wise.

Just being held up now by not being able to get the Summit Racing 5-Piece subframe kit (and a few other bits and pieces by them). None of the suppliers in the UK have them at the moment, and only Roger Clark have a delivery coming in any time soon, which could still be 2 months away.

Aside from that, plus wheels and tyres (which will be on their way very soon), it's probably 2-3 weeks away from being a rolling shell, but until I get those bits I can't do much else on that side. All the existing underside bits are away at the painters know and once they're back the engine will be given a lick of paint and some tasty knew parts on the top end.

The fabrication side is way beyond me personally, but if you have the skills or the ideas and can get someone with the skills then anything can be achieved.

It will be a while before I take on a project of this magnitude again, although will always have some kind of build on the go.

Right, little bit of an update. I know have everything required to get the car rolling to my desired spec with the exception of a couple of bits I'm waiting for.

Firstly, the Summit Racing Subframe, plus a couple more Summit Racing bracing parts, of which there is currently no stock in the country, but I'm down for some when the next batch arrives.

Secondly, wheels, but a set of these beauties are on their way courtesy once again of Mike Rainbird

In the meantime, I'm going to have a tinker with the engine, which is currently living on an engine stand in my garage. I will be ordering an MD321V turbo next week from Lateral Performance along with a few other trick bits and am also going to get the engine all painted and dressed up ready for when it's ready to slot into the shell.

They're my personal favourite wheel too and had planned for a set all along.

They're 19x9.5" and ET22 offset, so got nice concave spokes. I don't think they look anywhere near as good with a flat face.

He sourced them. PM him and ask if you're after a set, I'm sure he can sort you out.

Also managed to get my hands on a Spec C quick rack which I've been trying to find for a while and also order a new type of car tilter which should make bolting all the bits to the underside much easier.

Still waiting for the last couple of parts to arrive from overseas before it should all be ready to turn back into a rolling shell before winter sets in!

Should have had the Summit Racing bits sorted to build up the underside in October, but was let down by three suppliers on that, but thanks to Mike Rainbird AGAIN that's all sorted now and should have it all within days. Shell is up on a new CJ Autos chassis tilter so should make building it into a rolling shell fairly easy (fingers crossed).

Did want to do all that over the winter, but the hold-up on parts stopped that happening.

Totally agree. The wheels are going to look phenominal mate.

This has been a looooong project, but it's going to be sooooo worth it once you 'finish' it Mike.

Cheers,
Grant

It took an age cocking about with the fabrication to get everything just right. I'd improve one bit and it'd show up another area which wasn't quite as good and that went on for ages.....

It should have been a rolling shell by now and should have been starting to get eveything plumbed in and wired up, but oh well. I have the vast majority of parts all ready now, so from now until getting it running progress should hopefully be fairly swift.

Oi! Chesterman!

Will you pull your f*cking finger out and finish this? You're as bad as Ralph, whose escort is now a load-bearing part of his shed and a rather expensive table in a chap's garage in Northampton somewhere.
