1972 MK1 ESCORT RESTORATION & ON GOING PROJECT.
#87
Due to work being very busy over the last 2 or 3 months and sorting out other projects I havent had anytime to update my resto thread That is'st to say the MK1 hasnt had any attention .
First this is the other project (yeah I know its a cack MG Fidget but it is gonna look good when its done) Its a customers car and he's had it from new!!
Anyway managed to turn it from this:
(Its the horrid mustard piece of crap in the background )
To this:
Anyway enought of that Back to me motor
First thing I got done this year was I had the rear end 5 linked. I'd been planning it for a while and was going to do it myself but thought I'd be beter of getting it done by someone that knows best. I took it to Gary at Retromotorsport who did a fooking top notch job Cheers mate
Looks like this underneath now.
Me and liam (bruv) also made a new exhaust from scratch which fits much better than anyone you can buy, which is nice Ive fitted 5 different types over the years and this is th best.
Also had a new screen put it which has replaced the old tuffend one to a brand new laminated one.
NICE
Got a new tank goin in:
And im doing some work on the cage to strengthen up the car but I havent finished thet cos its alot harder than it looks
Upfront hasnt been left out either Got brand new Wilwood 4 pots with fast road discs and pads. Hopefully the brakes dont go all soggy when on track or on the way to and from work anymore .
Anyway thats it for now, Thanks for looking

I hope you dont mind, but i have a picture of your car as my screen saver. It's one of the back of it,outside the garage. It has a big bore stainless steel backbox on it. There is a red astra on the ramp in the background. This is the best picture for me.
I plan to start my own mk1 project, but running a sierra floor, with 4wd cossie power. The car i have in mind is rotten as a pear, hence just replacing the floor with a sierra one.
I also have a 2 door mk2,with original chassis rails, strut tops, inner wings etc. just needing light restoration.
When i get my driveway done in about 4 weeks its all systems go,but in the mean time, all i can do is drool over cars like yours.

Well worth the wait, looks the nuts
You've fitted the brakes I was getting in my imaginery Mk1/2 Escort build, I'll have to change my plans now
You turned that MG round quick eh
Look forward to seeing this out and about like I used to, one of the few things I miss about the drive home from Bromley, sad eh
Now I don't wanna see this on page 4 again
