Steve mate your a fucking nutter. :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top:

Mr.worth 29-11-2005 08:42 PM

love the sideways action m8

turbo gaskets are a bitch, hows yours without one :top:

Stavros 29-11-2005 09:09 PM

Its spot on without the turbo gaskets mate, removed the one between turbo n manifold and turbo and turbo elbow, and they both fine.

Just make sure the mounting faces are clean and the bolts are done up well.

I used some exhaust sealant to make sure, but TBH i dont think its reccomended to do that incase any gets in the turbo, but its only a wanky old T25 so i risked it

Craigo 29-11-2005 11:08 PM

sweeet mate, that is seriously sideways!

rsnissan 30-11-2005 10:09 AM

legend :top: :top:

get some zip ties to hold the wings on for a more authentic look :top: :top:

Stavros 03-12-2005 04:54 PM

Cable ties are the main thing that hold the front splitter on tho  :top:

Once I crash it itl have a lot more ties on dont worry, and some big dents :top:

Quick update....

Ever since I had it its had a mild missfire when on boost.

I bought some uprated plugs (ie Saab 9000 Turbo ones, tenner a set, they fit and they one heat range colder, clever eh ;) ) but ive left em at work so couldnt fit em today :wall:

I had a spare set of coilpacks too, and tho i gave one to Dan fudge to sort his missfire i fitted the other three (no idea if that helped, still dont  ) and re-gapped the plugs to 0.5mm (i didnt even check what they reccomended for S13s, but i knew thatd help  ) and the missfires gone :top:

Much better now.

Not gonna drink again tonight, gonna go out for some practice...

Dan 03-12-2005 05:01 PM

Defo get some more pics up Steve, wish i'd held on to mine now! :wall:

Stavros 04-12-2005 12:46 AM

Dan- Yes mate, you should have! With the right mods they mental fun

Just been up Birmingham for some more drift practice :top:

One thing I found out is my car flames like fuck! I never noticed before but one of my mates came up in his R32GTR and he saw it flame at least 5 times on the way up and countless times when drifting

My mountain bike water bottle catch tank melted
So i made a new one :top:
In 5mins :top:
From a empty can of Grolshe i found in a dustbin   :top:

Big ends knocking a lil more now too after tonights abuse  :top:

Im deffo much better tho, mainly thanks to advice from people who are better than me who came out with me and/or drove my car and i went out with them.
For a start I was being way too brutal, which is why I was spinning too often, now im far more gentle and can drift far faster and more consistant like that.
Kenny really opened my eyes to how little you need to use the power, when he drove my car we was barely ever on boost but fuck me we was going as fast and as sideways as ever

Deffo much better now, im holding full oppo lock nearly every drift now  Need more lock

On the way home i still span it on a roundabout and my mate in the GTR jus missed me tho  :top:

Really looking forward to the drift practice day next sat at Silverstone, thats what it takes to be good, practice practice practice

luke89 04-12-2005 02:09 AM

Stavros 08-12-2005 12:22 PM

Not had time to do it yet mate, i dont reckon im gonna get them done for the drifting on sat :( so thats cancelled then :(

Shouldnt take long, but on own its not easy...

Stavros 28-12-2005 04:00 PM

Quick update, well, not so quick, but no pics as forgot a camera

Over the wonderfully boring Xmas holidays me and Greg (BigWig) have been replacing the big end bearings on the SX.

As per usual, things liks the correct way to do it, instuctions, preperation, etc is no fun at all, so we just winged it  :top:

Righty then, picture the scene, ie on a drive in freezing xmas temperatures

Undoing the sump wasnt too hard, tho far more to it than just removing the bolts unfortunately, theres bracing between the gearbox n block that needs removing too.

Unbolting the sump is one thing, but REMOVING it is a WHOLE different matter  :wall:
We knew we would have to unbolt the engine mounts and raise the engine up (jack under the gearbox bellhousing is the way to go), but was shocked how far we had to do to get the sump out

Put it this way, i got i big professional mega low to mega high jack, and its WAAAY above the max reach of that.

In fact to get it high enough we had to use a big of cleverness, with my S13 projects favourite thing... WOOD :DD: :top:

We made an (incredibly precarious and unsafe  ) extention to the jack of around 10inches with some wood i cut up and nailed together, and finally that gave us enough height to get the sump out between the block and subframe.

Still a pain tho as have to unbolt the oil pickup inside the sump when the sumps still on to get it off

So far we have removed 3 sets of beaings (1/2/3) and replaced 2 sets so far, none had mega wear on them, tho all a bit worn, and all had side wear rather than dead centre.
Third one had been a pain, and not done 4th yet.

We got bit fucked off with the grief we was having, so today spent 150quid down Machine Mart on a big ass engine crane :top:

Unfortunatley we got back and started building it and realised one of the legs was missing  :wall:

So went n replaced it, got back here, and built it up :top:

Now its done but was freeeeeeeeezing n getting dark so gave up for today.

Tomorrow we gonna carry on, and as we got the crane i reckon we should finish it by end of day :top:

I gotta say a HUGE thanks to Greg (Bigwig), as there no way id get it done on my own.
As
(A) Its a 2 man job.
(B) He's better with the spanners than me (an RAF aircraft mechanic FFS  )
(C) Means theres a 2nd head to think of the bizzare bodge ways to get it all fixed  And someone else to say "Yea, fuck it, that looks safe enough" when you do something really dangerous :top:
(D) I give up WAY too easy and if I was on my own I just give up and go inside everytime it gets hard/cold/boring

CHEERS MATE!
:top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top:

big_wig_074 28-12-2005 04:49 PM

no worries fella!its all a learning curve innit?
what about the free renault clio body kit that came with the engine crane?lol!

wooden engine mounts were PROPER funny! especially when we couldnt get them out! i PROMISE to have all 4 bearings done tomorrow and the sump back on! then should be another day to make sure the brackets are all attached etc...... :top:

big_wig_074 29-12-2005 06:07 PM

nice one Steve, first time i've looked at this thread, spied your sig on driftworks. looks

so the GTR is still going ahead i presume?

i was out with my mate in his pimping volvo xmas night with a few of the driftworks lads drifting, was great fun, i want the j tuner '86

Tho if i kept it it would have a RB30 engine put in it anyhow so not much difference barring looks ;) (S15 headlight conversion too I reckon)

Only thing is i just couldnt spray it that riviera blue as id be mistaken for the "Drift Midz" crew, who seem to be some kind of wannabee drifter Croooozers (ie got the look and the talk, but dont/cant drift, just jumping on the bandwagon), and they all have S13s in that colour...
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.../mycars002.jpg
:wall:
Colour is cool as fuck tho, but think he might wanna lower it a bit...

J-Tuners AE86 is leaving me today :( :( So need to get an exhaust on the S13 soon as or il not have my daily RWD fix and i dont know if i can cope

Isnt your magazine featuring the "driftmidz" crew next month.

Stavros 02-01-2006 07:40 PM

Yes, infact I did the feature.

Must admit, ive changed my opinion on them for the min.

They dont think they good, they know they new and openly admit they got a LOT to learn.

But they seem pretty bloody determined, and they a sound bunch.

Their reason for being a "team" is mainly helping each other out (fuck me, i wish i was in a team, id get my car fixed quicker than all this solo shit!), so fair play.

It might go all wildly croozy and shit, but its down to them to prove they got what it takes and not turn into a bunch of nobbers doing donuts at croozes.

Infact Wad (he sort of the main one) and a few others are pretty good, and taught me a few things (thas not hard, im shit  ) but fair play.

James-W 02-01-2006 08:15 PM

Oh well thats good.

Can I be in your team Steve? :DD:

Stavros 02-01-2006 08:26 PM

If you can come help me fix the car, then your in  :top:

Stavros 08-01-2006 08:45 PM

Bit of an update.

On saturday me n Dan (fudgeass) went n bought an engine and box (inc inlet manifold, pipes, electrics, clutch, injectors, sensors, fan, well, everything really) from a L-reg 200SX with full nissan service history for 350quid!

And 2 conrods, the bolts, and another inlet manifold, all of which i need, for certain things

Got another new set of big end bearings here too.

From all this lot I should be able to build 2 really good engines, and now got 2 good gearboxes and clutches.
Then when I brake one I can just pop another in, and fix the broke one, with minimal off-road time.

Jobs a goodun.

GazzaG 09-01-2006 03:43 AM

Nice project matey ;)

Thrush 15-01-2006 11:10 PM

They are shit, and? :?

Cant believe you dug this up to post that when ive probably said it on this thread, ive slagged every other thing on the car ont his thread, lol :?

They better than CVHs and so on, can do 350bhp on standard internals with no prob.
Depends what you class as shit, but id say they shit.

Bought a supercharger today. 5th Gen Eaton M45 with teflon coated blades.
To blow up balloons with.

Pulsar turbo is next thing to buy I think.

You and your balloons

Back to the 200sx one of my mates was told a couple of days ago that if i welded up the diff on a car I wouldnt even be able to turn corners normally. Now i didnt read too much into this as so many people have it done. What difference does it make?

Thinking I might just sack the track xr2 idea as well and flog it to buy an S13. I get bored too easily.

datar18 16-01-2006 08:59 AM

you only really notice a welded diff when turning very sharp turns or reversing!

the back end will skip about when paralell parking.

but its all in the name of fun, so its worth it.

Stavros 16-01-2006 09:13 AM

Datar is right.

On a FWD a welded diff would be near enough undrivable, would understeer at any speed.

But on a RWD you only really notice it as per above.

And if you got a really shit RWD that understeers, a welder might make it worse.

But generally it makes it sooooooooooo much better its unbelivable

89xr2 17-01-2006 01:02 AM

What's the deal with this drift day on the 22nd at silverstone?

How much does it cost per car, do you have to pay to spectate/park etc. Is there any chance of getting near the track to take photos?

Can you take your mate out in your car?
