Looking good then matre, just go careful that the bottom end doesn't go like mine did, and my next door neighbours, and my mates... you get the idea!

:top: :top:

James-W 29-10-2005 11:12 AM

Steve why dont you make another turbo out of wood.

James-W 29-10-2005 11:13 AM

Or another engine.

Stavros 30-10-2005 07:51 PM

i bet the bottomend (well the big end bearings) wont last that long.

but i also bet between me and a mate we could fit new ones within a day so not fussed.

PMSL@jhw  worth a go

Slight update too....

Started putting it back together today ready for some drift practice at Bruntingthorpe on Monday...

Unfortunatley cause my mate didnt fuckin turn up i didnt get the fucker finished

Blocked/re-routed the turbo water pipes, binned some gaskets i didnt need, and its all back together barring the 4 manifold bolts underneath which i didnt have time to do.

Also finally got round to doing the camber- just set it to maximum negative
I think I over-did one of the 4 bolts on the drivers side strut tho, so its tight, but think its threaded itself
Slightly shocked the suspension is only held in place by 4 lil bolts anyhow :?

"Nearly" finished doing the sleepy eye headlight conversion, it might be a 5min job, but about 4mins in i decided to give up and do it another day, lol..

Sleepy eye setups always look cool, check i out, it can even almos make a Ford Probe NOT look like the gay piece of shit it really is

CasperR 30-10-2005 08:06 PM

I really wanna trade in my rst for a 200sx now. Soo many nice mods awailable, like turbular manifolds turbo convertions and just tasty mods.

these ar nice rear lights mate!! on my new car, dunno if theyre late spec or what but look better than the ones in yours for some reason!! :top:

Stavros 31-10-2005 07:49 PM

Mate, they the same rear lights with the centre part sprayed black, exactly what im gonna do when i can be arsed.

Gonna get some tint spray on the orange bit of the lights too.

Mine did cost 1/4 what yours did tho!

Tony Turbo 31-10-2005 08:59 PM

"Bodgeing" at it's best  :top: :top: :top:

Keep it up Steve :top:

Boy, I love these motors now

CasperR 31-10-2005 09:28 PM

Tony: Tell me about it, you can get a turbular manifold for under 300 and loads of silly jap controllers and gauges to fiddle with

James-W 02-11-2005 07:28 PM

NEWSFLASH
Steve is actually tried patenting my idea but subaru have already done it so they didnt let him.
MMMMMMM those 4 bolts just didnt have time. Last time i rebuilt an engine i forgot to put a piston in do you think it will make a difference?

Escy 08-11-2005 09:15 AM

Steve, on the engine bay pictures you don't have the breather pipe that comes up at the back by the plenum connected to anything. its the crankcase breather. :?

rsnissan 08-11-2005 10:39 AM

ay up gepeto hows the wooden car coming along?

Stavros 08-11-2005 01:07 PM

what pipe?

only two breathers come from the cam cover from what i can see.

Where they usually go, ie to inlet manifold and to the turbo inlet pipe, i blocked off.

Andy- Not done owt in last week or so, cant be arsed, too busy

Dan 08-11-2005 07:01 PM

Sounding cool mate, get those fookin pics up lazy bastid! ;) :top:

Stavros 08-11-2005 08:16 PM

Wohoooo, update :top:

Been out doing a bit of work, even tho its fucking chucking it down and dark
And no camera as its at work

Was time to remove my standard rear lights and centre panel... ;)
All bolts undone in 5mins and centre panel straight off (ok, couldnt get the plugs off the reverse lights so i cut the wires Ill re-attatch em when done  ).

But rear lights just would NOT budge :? :wall:
Pulled at them from the outside, nowt. :?
Hit them with a big mallet from the inside, nowt but nearly broke the fuckers
So had a real close look (hard in dark and torrential rain!) and noticed some black gunk, so got a crowbar behind em and wrenched the fuckers out. :top:
Just like a chavvy croozers Saxo bodykit, the bloody things were held on with TigerSeal

Into the shed i go... ;)

Oh looky, two almost empty cans of cheapo Satin Black paint thats been there for years ;) :top:
5min rub down of the reflective rear panel, then two quick coats of Satin Black, and job done, much cooler without that homo 80s relfective panel, and quite possibly the beginning of a DIY Satin Black respray frenzy :top: :top:

Oh what luck, a nearly full can of red light tint spray and some gaffa tape
Quick bit of taping up the red bits, then about 20 quick coats of red tint spray over the orange bits of the rear lights, and voila, red rear lights :top: :top:

Looks good so far, il get the camera from work maybe tomorrow and take some pics...

Todays mods give the look like Gregs S13, but my rear lights are more red...

DaveEscos 08-11-2005 11:35 PM

steve,

more updates on this shitter in one month, than over a year for your skyline

Stavros 09-11-2005 09:30 AM

cause the GTR is being done properly and takes time, this is being done with crap i find lying around, in the rain and dark, in the space of 10mins

rsnissan 09-11-2005 10:53 AM

steve what fuel pump are you running?

Stavros 09-11-2005 11:19 AM

Standard for the min, only running 1bar, filter, zorst.

Front mounter coming v.v.vsoon tho (free ;) )

rsnissan 09-11-2005 11:32 AM

fancy a free ;) uprated bosch internal that i ran in my datsun ? good for close to 500 brake i think.

will get you the details if your interested :top:

Dan 09-11-2005 12:23 PM

AFPMSL @ that post!

Stavros 10-11-2005 09:57 PM

Righty then, some pics at last...

Il take some more pictures when its daylight, but you get the idea ;)

Be more updates this weekend as long as i dont spend too much time drinking...

Stavros 11-11-2005 09:22 AM

Before

After
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/1...rearlights.jpg

Also was given (i love free) an uprated in-tank he had lying around by RS NISSAN on here :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: :top: dunno how its gonna fit, im bit confused myself, but hey...
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/1...c/Fuelpump.jpg

And finally, first part of my water injection setup (an intercooler aint gonna work very well when the car is going sideways), the proper high pressure version of the flojet W.I. pump.
Checkit, sooo WRC-tyte its signed by Colin McRae... :p
https://img.photobucket.com/albums/1...keymagic/W.jpg

rsnissan 11-11-2005 10:13 AM

respect...........coming along nicely :top:
Fitting the pump on the datsun is piss easy (you cant use wood though   )

http://mysite.freeserve.com/gingagti...8-picture3.jpg

you can see the stock cradle for the fuel pump here

i just cut the bottom of mine and clamped the uprated bosch one lower down in the stock cradle and that was it job done.

Stavros 11-11-2005 10:17 AM

I cant use wood? Damn, im stuffed then

Ive not looked at the std in-tank pump yet (or any in-tank pump, ever  ) so i was bit worried how the fuck the electrical connections work without blowing the car to fuck as they will be submerged in the tank wont they? :?

Its prob really easy and obvious, but like said, not looked yet, was leaving the house this morning and postman had left the fuckin pump on the doorstep :wall:

Cheers again tho mate :top: Random stuff from the office will be put in the post this afternoon  :top:

rsnissan 11-11-2005 10:28 AM

yeah the electrics are submerged you need air, fuel, and spark for a fire the tanks air tight so no probs there :blabla: :blabla:

The stock one is the same..................................oh you have to cut the multi plug off at the end where it goes to the stock pump so you can just attach the wires to the bosch one :top:

You will see when you get the old one out.........I was abit  when i first saw one

Stavros 11-11-2005 10:52 AM

Good point, i knew there was 1 fatal flaw in my worries

Cool man, cheers for the help :top: :top: :top: :top: :top:

Stavros 27-11-2005 09:26 AM

Also the front camber is adjusted to maximum negative, like a huuge amount, which gives the front a lot of grip when cornering so bang on for drifting.

Speed bumps are more than a minor issue with that lownes (i went over a full width one the other day and all could hear was scraaaaaaaaaaaape), but i dont give a fuck, from a performance (well drifting) perspective it feels good.

Looks shithot too :top:

Went to an (almost  ) legal drift practice sesh last nite, car performed brillantly, way better than expected, let few other drifters take it out too and they all agreed its shithot, so my DIY is kicking ass :top:

Should have some fuckin awesome pics from that in the next few days too, I cant wait :top:

Craigo 27-11-2005 12:54 PM

excellent mate, looks proper on its botty!!!!

big_wig_074 27-11-2005 04:05 PM

you went to that drift thing then?cool, get the pics up fella! no smoke at idle anymore i hope?you can show me how you fitted that pump when i see you next,i have one on order! :top: and a turbo and ecu too! :top:

RichardPON 27-11-2005 05:17 PM

Is that a side exit exhaust?

Stavros 27-11-2005 06:10 PM

PON- Yes mate

Greg- Yea i did, no smoke anywhere now mate, you should see the 1way valves i used, i found em in the house so no money spent, they the bollocks, they worth about 50quid each too

You wouldnt believe the amount of abuse the car got and was totally mint.
I swear to god ive never thrashed the fuck out a car so much, span it bout 50 times, we had sparks coming from the rear tyres by the end of it :top:

You should come next time, youl soon see the difference between a std LSD and a welder, there was 5 S13 drifters there, all of em had S14a LSDs fitted (ie better than a late S13 one) and they all binning em off for welders now, much much better.
This one guy whod been doing it for ages was better within 2 laps in my car than hes ever been in his own!

That said, you gotta be on gaurd 100% of the time once its done, as I have at least 5 accidental drift moments on every journey, the things a deathtrap
Best fun deathtrap ever tho :top:

Stavros 29-11-2005 03:29 PM

Got a drift practice day at silverstone booked for a week on saturday, and also another like last site nite this sat nite.
