MK3.5 1.1 -> FRST Replica Project - Update 6/8/08 Breaking
Well as of last week ive become the lucky owner of the car below - its pretty damn mint for its age (9years). I was gobsmaked by how clean the arches and underside is - with a good days cleaning with it up on axle stands it will be gleaming Its a shame i didn't get one with leccy windows, but thats another thing i can learn how to fit.
Anyway, the plan is to buy all the parts i need (rst bumper, interior, alloys, suspension, brakes - and fit them asap so i can get her on the road and fool some Corsa SRi drivers
Ive noticed a few other users on here have done the same as i have planned so expect endless questions you guys
Im looking forward to getting started - ive got RST decals, tinted rear lights and a boot release system all ready to be fitted - just waiting for some good weather (its Scotland afterall )

Update - 09/08/2005
Work done
-Front and Rear Bumpers removed (apart from one bolt on the front, its a bugger to get at :x )
-Rear mudflaps removed
-Centre Console Removed
-Door cards removed
-Smoked Lights Fitted
-Front flasher removed
-Debadged (rear)
-Arches and drums scrubbed again.
-Drums wire brushed, cleaned and two layers of metal primer done - now awaiting black hammerite
-Detarred, polished and bump strips renovated
Until next update my plan is:
-Buy new RS Mudflaps
-Fit boot pop lock
-FRST full kit soon to be delivered, get it painted and fitted (still require front fogs)
-Order Koni's (-30mm)
-Hammerite rear beam yellow to match Konis
-Purchase K&N
-Sort out small areas rust under sills, behind bumpers etc
-Buy new ford badges
Questions:
Whats the part number for the bodykit screws, they seem pretty universal around the car i see them being used for other fittings so i assume my local Ford Dealer will still stock them.
Any ideas as to what colour my car is, and the paint code for it so i can give that to the body shop for my FRST kit.
How the fook can i get the front bumper off :x The bolt on the drivers side is a bugger to get at.

Update time!
Have been in Greece on holiday for the past week, got back on Tuesday to find a load of boxes of parts off ebay
Whats been done:
-Leather Gear Gator Fitted
-Rear Beam Painted Yellow
-Drums Painted Black
Parts Recieved:
RST Arches and Skirts (still waitng on bumpers :x )
4 RS Logo Mudflaps
Scorpion 3" Exhaust
Leather Gear Gator
RST Rear Spoiler
Boot Pop Lock
Now ive only got to wait for the bumpers arrive and I'll be able to make some real progress and get them sprayed and fitted (along with de-bump stripping the sides). Its a shame the car wasn't black since all the bodykit parts so far have been black :-? Plus the guy off ebay decided to wrap them in parcel tape, an absolutle bugger to get off :x
Well chuffed with the exhuast, was absolutely manky when i got it, 10minutes with stainless steel cleaner had it looking like new - not bad for Ł36 off ebay 8)

Project Update Number 3:
Items Purchased:
Fire Extinguisher
Opening Rear Quarters + Seals
Escort Cosworth Leather Gear Knob
Full FRST Recaro Interior
Electric Window Mechs and Door Wiring
Central Locking Mechs and Door Wiring
Fogs Lights
Bolt on K&N Filter
Mk4 Fiesta Interior Light
Higher Spec Mk3 Fiesta Rear Boot Interior Mouldings
New Spare Wheel Tray
Window/central locking and boot "dash" wiring loom purchased since my lower spec "beast" didn't have the wiring.
Progress:
90% Interior Fitted - Escort Cosworth Knob fitted thismorning. Most of the FRST stuff fitted. Can't fit the door new cards at the moment because of the manual window turning mechanism. Well chuffed with the Recaros, piping has gone on the drivers seat but I'm not too bothered at the moment and will probably be using seat covers for a while anyway. They were a bit grubby so I bought a foam upholstery clearner which worked a treat bringing back the whole interior to its former glory. The parts were out of a mk3 Fezza which meant changing round the subframes which was surprisingly easy compared to how i thought it would be. Final thing on the interior front was getting the door pockets with electric window switches. Thanks go to Jonnyturbo for most of the stuff
The Front and Rear Bumpers finally arrived, so i got them fitted into place (and afterwards with the fogs) to see how they would fit, no problems there. Bumpers were quite scuffed but have rubbed them down a bit before it goes to the body shop. Presently in the middle of fitting the new air filter but require 3 new bolts to connect the base plate onto the carb.
The majour problem now is to get me insured on it so i can drive it to get the kit sprayed and fitted plus the exhaust fitted too. Which leads me to the question, does anyone know the inner and outer dimms of a Mk3.5 Fiesta HCS 1.1 exhaust as a new flange connecter will be required to bolt on the scorpion rear box.
A trip to a Ford Parts Desk is also on the cards, more wallet buggery comprising of:
New Boot Seal
2x Ford Badges
Bodykit Fixings and sideskirt "sticky strip"
O/S Wing mirror glass
Headlight Protectors
and finding out the paint code for the body shop.
Theres a few other unique bits and bobs on the horizon but I'll keep'em quiet for the moment?!
Next thing is to get it on the road, meaning firstly get the K&N on, then get it to the bodyshop asap and then get the exhaust fitted. Not sure how the whole car will look with the steelies on lol. After that i'll get the opening rear quarters on once i get hold of a rivet gun, anyone know what size of rivets are required? Then obviously get some alloys on there, any suggestions see my other post here: https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...817&highlight=
Only problem is i start uni soon so i hope progress doesn't slow once i've started.

Wow - update time i think is called for
Been way too busy at uni to een be arsed with an update
Anyways it's hard to remember whats been done since last time but here goes:
Parts Bought:
-Mk4 Rear Wiper
-"RS" Logo'd black seat covers (x2)
-G - Max Suspension kit (shocks and springs)
-Headlamp Protectors
-New Leccy window mech as the drivers one snapped.
-Ford Plastic Battery Cover
-Opening rear quarter window nut covers
-Oil breather
-And the all import road tax and magic tree
Im sure there's more bits i will think of but that all for the moment.
Fitted:
-Oil Breather
-Headlamp Protectors
Fitted the rear wiper arm, that came with aa brand new blade too which was a bargin - really works a treat - MOT is up in a week or so's time so i'll be getting new front blades too i recon.
About 2 weeks ago got myself a rivet gun and set about fitting the opening rear quarters - were quite easy to do overall after a few inital problems with the rivets falling out - some washers sorted that out though.
Fitted the rear suspension today - car now sits noticably lower (-40mm drop) - still need to do the front this week so i can get the tracking done before the MOT - only prob is i need to buy some new bushes for the struts - can't stretch to poly ones though - it'll have to be the ford ones for the mo
Problems:
Car now seems to be leaking oil from the sump, haven't had a chance to look at it yet though, lucky i checked the levels though as it was well below the minimum so had it topped up pronto. I'll get this looked at for the MOT too - at worst it'll be a sump gasket or something.
Also the drivers side rear drum is becoming quite sticky Wheel locks occasionally whilst reversing.
But saying that she's been 100% reliable after the probz i had with carb freeze due to the K&N - so swapped back to the standard filter with the hot air intake from the mani.
Next:
My next plans will be to get a cheapo set of alloys, get the wirirng done for all the leccy stuff - then go about spraying and fitting the bodykit.
No piccies for the mo, until i clear out my photobucket account - should be up by tommorow

Yeah i've only seen one other fiesta with them on - was in the back of PF mag years ago in the classified section.
Only problem is thier rubbing on the front struts and the offset is out by 5mm - i'll leave all that buisness till after its MOT i think.

Wow where have i been? - six months since i was last bothered to update this - the answer is uni work coupled with lazyness but fear not ALOT of progress has been made in the 6 months
Feb '06
Away back in Feb, just after the Glasgow PF meet i got all four alloys on, with Yoko A539's on the front. I drove the car about for a month or so in this state with no problems at all, the tyres but very slighty on full lock. I run 45 profiles on the front since i was buying new tyres, but left the rear tyres (which were 50's) on as they still had a bit of tread left on them. They do rub slightly however with 5 people in the car (thats not very often). Around the same time i also got a Pioneer headunit on the cheap and secured it into the centre console, the standard speakers are wrecked, so i'll be replaceing them with some fairly decent 5" co-ax's soon, and use some sound deadening material behind where the speakers are in the doors.
Some pics:
Mar/Apr '06
When i bought the rear smoked lights off ebay, the smoked sections hadn't been laquered and the reverse light was smoked (see pics from previous updates). So i decided to remove the smoked reverse light then laquer both lights - they now look pretty similar to RS accessory lights but at a fraction of the price.
Started to sort out a few wee bits of rust here and there behind the bumpers before i started on the kit. Not the tidiest of jobs by anymeans but it'll do as its all hidden away anyway Also got a nib pen and patched up a few stone chips on the bonnet - mad ea big difference as it was covered in chips.
Apr/May '06
After seeing a few guides on FT.com on how to adjust the tappet settings to make the HCS a bit quieter, i decided to give it a go but managed to bugger it up - so the car didn't run for ages, until yesterday infact (cheers Rab - more info to come).
Since the car was a non runner and i had more free time after my uni exams i decided to give it a go at painting the bodykit, as if i bodged it up i wouldn't have spend loads of money anyway - i used spray cans but i am really happy with the results - although all the parts still require to be rubbed down a bit more to give a bit of a shine. The colour match isn't that far off
Rear bumper finally done with laquer and bolted on
Jun '06
Did a few bits and bobs with the car - ive got alot of small ideas/projects to do on the car so have made a bit of progress with each.
Got a diskloc and matching bag off ebay - note the colour
Always thought it would be cool to have recaro headrests for the rear occupants (not thats theres ever that many but just something a bit different i wanted). Sourced a set of granada leather headrests off ebay for a tenner and experiemented with my old rear seat uprights. There is a cavity in the metal frame/pressed shape of the rear upright just the right depth to allow the headrests to be slid down secruely into place after drilling a few holes.
Pretty pleased with the positon of them, and they're solid in - next thing will be to get the headrests re-trimmed to match the FRST interior, and ive got 2x recaro badges for the back too.
Another addition to the interior is a mk4 fiesta interior light -
Not the best fit but ive decided im going to re cover the headlining at some point in biege swede so will fix it/tidy it up then.
Tax disk holder:
RS Seat cover - little different from your usual RSOC ones.
Also been planning a boot build (BUT NO SILLY ICE SYSTEMS ) Its going to encorporate my new tool kit, first aid kit, fire extinguiser and still to buy (spare bulb kit, maglight torch) - it will all be fastened onto the rear seat back which should hopefullu leave enough room for luggage etc in future.
How the boot is at present:
Meant to mention got 2 struct braces on the cheap - yet to fit the front one.
Next big thing was to do the front bumper, still to laquer it so thats why the splitter ain't on yet - really pleased with how it looks compared to how it was when i got her.
July '06
So far....
The engine now runs - thanks to Rab who re-adjusted the tappets for me, and also noticed that i'd hit the few reg on the carb so it was overfuealing and not firing - cheers man - more info here about that and how helpful Rab was; https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...891&highlight= - RESPECT
And today my slow puncture rapidly became a fast one but im buying a set of 15" OZ Superleggras in 2 weeks time anyway - got some cool wheel bolts for them
Thats all for now - updates coming soon

LOL!
Don't worry mate...... I've seen far far far far worse......
We had a motorman on board that used to mop the bottom plates in the engine room with diesel..... While smoking a rollie
When I caught him his reply was "I've been doing it for years mate, it'll be fine"
