The latest update....

New footwell....

new footwell (engine bay side)....

new inner wing....

nice new battery tray as well....

Thats the front end coming along now. Most of the fiddly bits have been done, so its a case of using Ford panels to rebuild now

Its about Ł4500+ to the stage you see it now. I could have got it cheaper, using aftermarket panels, as genuine Ford panels dont come cheap but a lot of aftermarket panels just dont fit right and my consiounce just wouldnt be great knowing i had used cheaper aftermarket stuff.
There is also the fact the guys have sorted out a LOT of fiddly wee bits and hand made new panels (i.e the footwells and boot floor) which has added to labour costs.

richard .... thats the plan

yeah i know about the after market panels, i got a after market passanger wing in the loft, decided not to use it and won a jen ford wing off ebay for Ł10.50

Ł4500 isnt as bad as what i though well ish as its got to be worth that so far with parts and labour.

cant wait to see it all done, btw i got a few hundred quid owed to me, when i got fancy selling me the shell

just a thought, what ya gunna do it once the shells all finished? how ya gunna in sure all the areas that have had new bits fitted are all painted/sealed to stop the rust bug setting up home again? you gunna send it for a galvenise dip?

Jay...

A "few hundred quid" for a restored genuine Fiesta RS shell .... not bloody likely

All the panels will be getting painted and laquered. All internal areas, i.e rear quarters will be back filled with wax-oyl, especially around the arches. But to add to that, all the panels are glued, which means they are sealed from water getting between them ....... and ..... my bodykit will be bonded on to add yet another layer to stop water getting at the sills and arches.

no sticking with the mk3 one mate, thing that makes them rot is that fucking pad they have between the 2 panels....nice one ford!

the panel isnt really that bad for 15 years so once im done it should last that if not longer but i prob wont own it then

I found alot the sound deadening just above the petrol cap, on the inner arch pannel (if you get me ) was trapping moisture. Needlous to say it was removed with the rest of my interior and given sa serious wax oyl`n.

Good luck though mate, and keep us posted with more pics

If you keeping the mk3 cap, i would try and seal right round the hole for the actualy cap, as water can easily get into there and will rest in the arches.

from the pics it looks as though the guys working on your motor really know what therye doing mate. i would imagine a lot of shops would not have taken the car on when they realised how much work was involved.

Allan and the boys are superb, i cant emphasis that enough. Yeah i would think a lot of bodyshops would not have done this amount of work, most would tell me to scrap it, or re-shell. But again Allan understood why i wanted to do a full restoration. A 1.1 shell just wouldnt have been right

I aint been on her for a long time, OMG i am so impressed by how the car is coming along

Fair play to you to, i know how much the car means to you and its awesome to see you returning it to what i suspect will be better than the day it left the factory

Also fair play to alan for tackling such a task
