I bought a ur quattro shell years ago that someone had put por15 on the front inner arch, surprisingly it must not have been done properly as it had not hardened. Good stuff if done right though.
wow, that’s odd. I wonder what they got wrong, maybe they had not prepped the metal, it must be absolutely bone dry after the metal prep and it doesn’t like the cold while hardening.
I stripped a few bits off the old TT engine today as they were better than the new engine and I spotted that the broken timing belt was all bunched up behind the water pump, out of interest I pulled out the water pump and the bearing had collapsed and totally seized. I believe this is fairly common on the 1.8t engine so will put new, genuine, pumps in the 944 and Audi. I had wondered why the timing belt had failed within 20,000 miles. I think there is an updated vag pump due to the failures.
I decided not to go in to work on Friday and have a big push on the Audi and continue sat and sun.
Pulled the entire front out of the car as the chassis legs have the first signs of corrosion and I want to kill that and the wax oil inside the chassis legs, I am ditching the two crap intercoolers and putting bar and plate FMIC on there. I have tracked down a guy famous for the 1.8t ecu remaps (WAK) and he is going to map it. Engine is now ready for timing belt etc then refit to gearbox and I can wheel it all in to the chassis. R32 anti roll bars going in with the understeer deleting bushes and geo setup. Nearly finished painting before it all goes back together.

I am really please as I picked up a second hand HPA Haldex controller which makes the car more rear wheel drive biased and you can adjust the pressure to the Haldex as much as you want to a max of 50/50 torque split plus diverged launches which means it dumps the power to rear and then slowly back to the front on launch etc....you can adjust and tune it to suit your needs - a bit like the controller for the Skyline boxes.
So this week I am waiting on the controller, all new bushes with the camber and caster improvements, R32 front and rear roll bars and then the timing belt, water pump and idler etc...racing to get it done and off the ramps before the Pug comes back (fingers crossed)
Interesting to know about that, let us know what its like once you've tested it out
Will do, I have read a lot of peoples experiences with them and they say the car drives much more like a rear wheel drive but you need to make sure the Haldex oil does not overheat or it shuts down and goes front wheel drive but a radiator can help, I think it is track stuff that may overheat it and my Roadster wont be going on track.
My car has a carbon cam cover...cover but it has seen better days so I may run without the extra cover, if I don’t like it I will buy an oem one but seeing as I had throughly degreased the cover in the ultrasonic bath I though I may as well paint it in 2k and lacquer.
It is metallic green, like the car but doesn’t look it in the light of the photo. I have orange boost pipes to contrast like the baseball leather.

It’s amazing just how many TT’s are being broken currently, I picked up a set of freshly refurbed genuine wheels with 4 new 1000 mile old Pirelli tyres and new centre caps for Ł300, new injectors 550cc Ł60 and a set of genuine Porsche 4 pot front Brembos with adapters and braided lines for the TT with nearly new pads Ł300....you don’t get that with Cossies / RS stuff.
Another Friday spent cleaning up parts for the rebuild, everything now has surface rust treated and will finish the paint sat afternoon following 5 hr round trip to Rugby to pick up a 3.2 V6 TT front bumper that has had some work done on it, this will go off to body shop with the 3.2 boot and rear spoiler i bought ages ago as mine had a dent.
Porsche red brake front calipers arrived today, really pleased with them.
Why is it that every time I won't something it's down your way toby . And every time you won't something it's up my way lol
I know, it’s always the way.
i can always pick stuff up for you and meet you somewhere or post or hold it for you. I did think of asking him to drop the bumper to you and I pick up another time but I need it soon for paint so early morning road trip.
Leather dash arrived today to match the seats, uprated clutch and cover too.
tomorrow is new timing belt, water pump, idler, tensioner and all new gaskets plus new dual mass flywheel plus all the suspension profiles bushes going in and Porsche brakes on.
Porsche brembos on Audi adapters, I added some heat proof Audi rings today Inlet mani with new gaskets, will give it a quick polish when finished. Timing belt, tensioner, vag water pump etc all timed up Ko4 hybrid turbo mounted, I should be able to fit the new dual mass flywheel and uprated clutch and cover tomorrow and then re unite it to the gearbox.
Here is the donor v6 bumper, number plate recess and washer jet flaps being deleted New donor v6 spoiler Painted boot Boot lid Water had sat under the spoiler on donor bootlid Washer jets gone Donor boot lid (replacing my rusty one lol) V6 front bumper, I have a chin spoiler to fit
Looking good. Won't take long to put it all back together.
I am trying to arrange to pick up the engines for the porsche and another project but we are in the middle of a polar storm currently so driving bans etc in effect and when I did drive home earlier it was white out conditions to the point I missed my road turning and had to turn around and come back. Once I get the engine i'll get everything fitted and mocked up then go from there with it.

sounds like fun there. Get a thread updated when you get the donor Engine.
i have found that the Tfsi crank fits the 1.8t block with better rod angles and makes 2.1...that and a hybrid ko4 give 380bhp and bigger turbo (I.e.) my 7064 can get nearer to a reliable 600bhp with good Rods so that’s what is going in the 944...about 400bhp target.
did a 4hr round trip to Canterbury today and picked up 4 just refurbished wheels the same as mine (rs4) for the Audi with brand new Pirelli’s all round along with 550cc injectors (used for 500 miles) and then the v6 grill.
I will I’ll finish the engine and subframe re-fit on Friday ans then get bumper etc back on over weekend. Just waiting on new wheel bearings as last 2 sets were wrong.
I put one of the refreshed hubs / bearing carriers back on today...new wheel bearings, new abs rings and cleaned up the metal and then added a new abs sensor as one has been playing up. Also fitted one of the Porsche brembos that was a simple fit.
Old dash out New dash to match the leather in Takes a while to get to this, they are well built cars I am putting in a double din satnav, the best one Kenwood does with apple car play, reverse camera, dash cam in 4k and Garmin satnav. I have bought a double din conversion, will post pics later
You can see I have replaced one of the air vents with a liquid gauge, this reads the ecu and can show every variable inc. boost, g force, torque, bhp, 0-60, fault codes etc.
It’s still not finished, hence the mess but the double din is in and the reverse camera comes on with the reverse light and has the coloured lines on the screen. Needs a good clean but it’s in. Other side brace to go on next.

The TFSi crank does fit but you need to fit an oil pump gear, my yellow MG has this but better rod angles, how do you work that out ? I'm sure 2.1 is with the biggest bore, I can't remember what bore size my car has but it's a 2000cc thereabouts as I recall

yes, that is correct about the oil pump gear.
what I meant to put was that the tfsi crank gives better rod angles than the 1.9 diesel crank option for long stroking....the tfsi has the better rod angles.

what MG have you got?
Gotcha, I thought you mean't over the std crank. MG ZR ex works race car with a few mods
I sent the TT away to a TT specialist as the clutch would not engage fully, it turned out to be a faulty clutch cover.
the specialist went right through the car and did a mini mechanical restoration, it comes back this week and he says it handles like a different car, it has the ore recal bushes, haldex controller, new slightly lowered springs, full geo set up and v6 anti roll bars. Very poly bush was changed by me. He has updated the lights and indicators to modern spec too along with a raft of new bits.
