Looking to restore and lose the 1.1, anyone got any good ideas engine wise that won't give me loads of problems as it's my first one lol .

Cheers mate, like I said very new to this! I think I'm going to need alot of advice off this site, will try post some pictures up tomorrow, the cars hiding away in the garage at the moment as the wife done her nut today when it turned up on on a trailer ( should of told her it was coming) lol. Put a bid on ebay for a basic ford escort rs engine earlier today and won it for £32, so thinking could use it?

Hi mate and Welcome!
Why not try a 1.7 out of a puma etc? that would shift for a car under a tonne and be different

I have a huge love for turbos and dump valves!!!! Always promised myself i would have one one day, something I missed in my youth lol, BUT!!!! If there's something easier with more power I think I could be persuaded if the prices are right.

Go for the turbo mate! slightly more involved especially with aging components but the smile on your face while its on boost will be worth it

I've changed my mind!!!!!!!!!!! Thinking of the easier quicker job!!!!! Thinking of using the engine I bought today but not as a turbo, and running carbs? Can that be done? Just been thinking about looms and wiring has put me off !
