Looks very nice m8, but I can't help myself being an asshole, but I hate the rims....

Rims make the difference in a car being good or bad, and this doesn't do justice to the car at all in my opnion

Wow, cheers people,

I have to say the car is looking awesome at the mo, exactly how I want it to be/have done since I bought it, couldnt stop looking at it yesterday at the pod and comparing it to others

K3V, Thanks mate, means alot, You shouldve held out for a little longer ... but you did say you wanted ST and didnt want mallard though anyway so nothing lost

LOL Jabba, Im a monster when Ive got a camera in my hand, thats just a small selection of the numerous ones I took, I was waiting ages for the sun to shine and getting a few funny looks taking up all the space in car park and constantly moving the car etc

Paul ... yer, I could tell you a few funny stories of whats hapened to me /others in that car park, there some strange people (who wear all black and balaclava's) round there

Each to thier own mate, I'm glad you actually voiced your opinion, I can appreciate constructive critisism

TBH, the wheels are a bitch to keep clean, BUT they are extremely rare (Gen Ford/OZ cast marks) as they are the standard 8x16s which come with the car from new The only 18s I wouldve ever fitted would be the 18" versions of these (as Fozy has), nothing else, with the greatest respect to others, I think both rondells and comps are too common... besides, I can still fit perfectly good AP 4 pots with 315mm discs behind these NO PROBLEM ...

Right thought I'd update this thread with details of what has beend going on lately.....

one night about half eleven...... 5th gear 120ish for litterally a few seconds, not held there, just brought it up as I came off a slip road................ noticable missfire, lift off, LOADS of BLACK smoke.... then running on 3 cylinders, limped off the road switched off started it back up plenty of smoke which I initially though smelt like burnt water/antifreeze then appeared to be oil..

Soooooooo whipped the plugs out the next morning,

I am pretty sure I know what I am going to find once Ive got the head off

Looks like I'm gonna be busy and skint for a while, dunno if I will want to sell the car once I'm done now as I've always been in two minds... we'll just have to wait n see what its gonna cost me

I am proper gutted but its happened its one of those things, it can be fixed, Id rather it be this than tip the car into a ditch or it go up in flames

Right, here we go.. ( I have left the images full size) quick call to roadside relay

(Bastids damaged one of my alloys in the process)

Did a cylinder leakage test just to be sure.. 1,2 and 3 were 4 - 6 % number 4 was 90 odd % lol

Let battle commence........ LOL look at the flies... anyone would've thought I'd just driven 200 miles to norfolk and (Nearly) back...

Just under 2 hours later.. All ready to lift off.. how strong am I feeling

Heave HO

Lucky I stripped the sounds out

NUmber 4

Number 3

Number 2

Number 1

The bore, it does actually look ok, that stuff is stuck to it not impressed into it, though time will tell....

The head

Bit of oil in there...

Basically... The bore didnt look too bad, I dunno if the head can be repaired?? It was previously on its near to last skim if not last I reckon...

The piston will look nice once chromed

you can see (If Im right) its melted the most around the O/S/F section... the other 3 pistons DO have tiny ridges in this area (can se it more in the pic of number 2), obviously due to wear ... My thinking is as a result of this sharp edge, this is where the heat would have built up and started the meltdown/det?? do I still need to look elsewhere?? OH and does it look like I have been running a bit rich?? pistons are a bit clean on inlet side?

Managed to get a bit more done tonight, managed to strip head down

Inlet seats

Exhaust seats

Number 3 inlet side (for reference as to skim depth )

Number 3 Exhaust side

The worst exhaust valve, looks to me like its trapped a lump of sharp metal between it and the seat ??

Right this is where I'm at today, didnt get too much done really, didnt get out of bed till late, plus I had someone off here come and have a look at the car thinking of buying it as is so I spent quite a while with them.....

The all important cup of coffee

This is as I left it.. bit strange though, as the rods are mixed up in the wrong order dunno why that is.. powers were the last people to build it ...

Few bits to clean up

Couple of bits I have been up to today...

The Fibreglass cover for the O/S Engine mount was begining to look a little tired, you cant really see it when in place but obviously wasnt really doing alot either, ....

Quick slap with some fibreglasss sheets and resin...

Quick rub down

Along with some other bits I thought I would "tart up" while its all apart. Its all been etch primed, basecoat and 2K clear hmmmn shiney shiney ... dunno how long it willl all last but it looks nce now

Thought I'd give the cam cover another blow over too as its been done for over 2 years now (Obviously its Mallard )
